January 26, 200917 yr On the issue of Casey, it's a tough one for me. He was a great contact hitter and clubhouse man, but his defense and lack of speed drove me nuts. I'd probably say yes, based mainly on his character.

For those of you who say Griffey is a lock for Reds' HOF (and I'm not saying he isn't!)...compare those numbers to Casey's yearly average... Batting Avg: .305 Home Runs: 15 RBI'S: 76 Hits: 153 Doubles: 32 Seems to me it's a no-brainer then. The Mayor should be IN!
January 26, 200917 yr Those numbers are great, but Griffey will be a first ballot hall of famer in cooperstown. And a first ballot hall of famer in the Reds and Mariners (If they have one) hall of fames.:notworthy:
January 26, 200917 yr I love Sean Casey, but I just don't see how he'd get into the Reds HOF based on his numbers. A very likeable guy. A great professional. A good leader who had a great clubhouse presence. Those are all the intangibles that I love in players; however, you do not get into the Hall of Fame based solely on intangibles.
January 26, 200917 yr I don't see why not. It isn't like you have to have great numbers or be an all-time great to make the Reds HOF. I don't mean that in a negative way but simply put the Reds HOF is just for the Reds. I would think the team and fans could use whatever criteria they want without having to have benchmark numbers like 300 homers or 150 wins to determine the members. Casey was certainly a productive, popular player that put up very good offensive numbers and was really the face of the team while he was there. All-Time Great or HOFer? Not even close but HOFer for a team? Sure.
