Baseballguy Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Sorry if this has already been posted, but I didn't see anything. The report said Casey, nicknamed "The Mayor" for his friendly personality, has signed on with the MLB Network for role that has not been defined yet. http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090125&content_id=3770622&vkey=news_cin&fext=.jsp&c_id=cin
nkuclubbaseball19 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Best of luck to the Mayor. He was always great to watch and I'm going to miss seeing him on the diamond.
MJAlltheWay24 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I enjoyed watching him while he played with the Reds, and I agree GT.
00Rocket28 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 He seems too young and productive to retire?
stick1 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I really enjoyed him as a Red and thought they made the right move when they let him go. I am happy he is going to be on MLB Network! I agree GT I think he will bring a great side to the table.
ladiesbballcoach Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Alan Cutler was pushing for the Reds to sign him as a pinch hitter. Great locker room presence for the younger team that the Reds will field this year.

Great locker room presence for the younger team that the Reds will field this year. If Sean was willing, that would be great. That said, I believe he will do very well behind the mic.
oldrambler Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I really loved watching Sean Casey play. Casey imo was somewhat like a Derek Jeter in that he imo was the definition of what a MLB player should be. All class, love of the game and he had a deep respect for the game and the ones that came before him. I wish "the Mayor" all the best.
ladiesbballcoach Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 He could be a swell base running coach for some team. As many on here well know, my son's favorite player and one of my favorites. One of the few players you did feel comfortable in letting your son have as a role model. Baseball is a lesser place without him being involved.
gametime Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Baseball is a lesser place without him being involved. He's still involved...
Qryche11 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Not a very good athlete but made the best of his abilities and always found a way to get a hit in a clutch situation. Great hitter and even better person. I wish him the best.
AverageJoesGym Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Very great guy that will be a great ambassador for the game. My son and I met him back in 2005 on the Sunday before Opening Day. He really went out of his way to talk to us and make us feel important. First class guy all the way. I enjoyed him as a Red and on the Red Sox last season.
ColonelCrazy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I love the idea of Sean Casey back in Cincinnati. He was hitting well over .300 for the Red Sox as a backup. How does that happen? :idunno:
