I just read where the coach has been fired.

Do you have a link? I would like to read that article. Thanks :thumb:

The lack of attrition and stance by the Coach, is puzzling. Any program that has 8 girls on a team, with only 20 total students will be no match.

Never seen a score like this one.

This is a very bizarre ordeal. The coach that was fired reminds me of the stereotypical "bad guy" coach that is so often portrayed in the movies.

He sure does. Here's one of his quotes regarding the blowout:

"My values and my beliefs would not allow me to run up the score on any opponent..."

OK, so how many more points did he need to score for him to think that he was running up the score???? :irked:

That school probably should not field a team.

What if someone came to the coaches defense and said, "Let me say this. I've known Micah Grimes for a long time. He is a first class individual all the way. I know for a fact that he wouldn't purposely run up the score on Dallas Academy or any other school for that matter.

Would this make a difference to anyone? Just asking.

Not really - the score, the full court press, and starters being in during the 4th quarter speaks all that I need to hear.

1 more.

Here is my arguement....

Why was the game scheduled?

If the team that didn't score is that bad, then why are they playing a varsity schedule?

It's not the winning teams' fault that the other team didn't score.

If people were going to complain, then the game should have been called at half.

Its one thing to win. Its another thing to run a full court press with your starters in the 4th quarter against a team that hasn't scored yet.

That still doesn't explain the points that I made. Why is this team playing basketball? Clearly they don't need to be competing at a varsity level.

As most people can tell... I like to take the opposite end of the spectrum with arguments.

Because the girls have fun doing it? Because it allows them to interact with other children? Don't fault the girls for wanting to do what they love and enjoy

The team in question is winless in the last 4 years. Possibly they should schedule a JV only schedule? I agree the full court press is wrong for the winning coach to keep doing, but I also agree that the losing team shouldn't be playing basketball at a varsity level.
