That's how I read it too. Invasions from Russia on some countries mentioned would create WWIII, who wants that? Riots in major Cities? Would cost a heck of a lot of money, millions? Billions? in damages, then their are the deaths and injuries, who wants that? Businesses having to close, which leads to MORE people losing their jobs, who wants that? What if it was the business that you work for? Skyrocketing crime? millions more $$$ here, some crimes are violent, so MORE deaths and injuries, who wants that? Stock market never moving up? No growth in the economy, who wants that? And a terrorist being discovered with a dirty bomb just moments before detonation?

 

But oh yeah, this is only if it would happen to those who voted for Obama, then it's okay. That's how I read it too. It's sad. :ohbrother:

I don't care who the president is, democrat or republican! No matter how much I may dislike them, I continue to hope and pray they do the things to either keep this country as well as the world in the right direction, or aim us in the right direction. IMO, Anything less would be un-American, and inhuman.

I think that we need to cut JD some slack. I certainly don't wish President Obama and our country failure, but I believe that JD was only typing his random thoughts - not his wishes. To say in one way, "If Obama succeeds, they (those that voted for him) will get what they deserve...but wait...so will the rest of us."

As I posted in another thread, if Obama fails then WE as Americans fail.

 

I didn't vote for him to become my president, but whats happend has happend and I am now ready for Obama to continue to lead this country in the right direction.

I have read so many of these posts that cannot believe that anyone would want the President or Country to fail. I believe that each time W was elected, we were covered with comments that he "was not my president". These comments came from every walk of life. Do you dare say it now or you will be branded. We were forced to listen to hollywood spew that garbage and not one of them ever moved from this great country. Now, that their man is in office, and someone says something they do not like, they quickly brand you a ditto head or whatever.

 

This is the stuff that grinds me. The hollier than thou attitude that exists vs the eternal condemnation that was their right to spew the last 8 years.

That is how I feel as well. I didn't vote for him, I don't particularly like his voting record and I surely don't agree with much of what he campaigned on. That said I want him to be a successful president, I want him to do a good job and help bring this country together.

"Thunder", please don't misunderstand me. I agree with you. I did not vote for Obama. I do not share his beliefs. However, he was elected President and he is my president.

 

That is an attitude that is foreign to those hollier than thou folks that rejected W as their president.

 

I just find it amussing to hear these folks defend their man and reject the negativity when it is exactly what they have been doing and saying for the last 8 years. I wish that they all would have moved top some other country.

I hope he does well which is synomomous with saying I hope he fails to accomplish many of his stated objectives.

 

I hope he fails to bring home all the troops from Iraq in 16 months because I think it will take longer to do a proper withdraw.

 

I hope he fails to implement the kind of health care program he desires because the government controlled program he advocates would curb individual freedom, would be grossly inefficient, and would be so much more expensive than we could possbily afford

 

I hope he fails to remove the government surveilence programs he said he would end because I believe they are both legal and effective. (I also believe he secretly wants to fail to achieve this goal now that the responsbility falls on him.)

 

I hope he fails to nominate the kind of judges he desires because I believe they would have a flawed judicial philosophy and would also be pro-abortion.

Your second paragraph pretty well summarizes my feelings.

 

I hope that Obama abandons most of his left wing positions and is successful governing as a moderate. I do not want to see him successfully implement his left wing agenda because I believe it would be detrimental to the long term viability of this country. After a few years of $1 trillion+ deficits, increased gun regulations, fewer restrictions on abortions, more government ownership of private companies, soaring utility bills, etc., this will be a very different and a worse country in which to live.
