The way I worded it I can see how some of you would take it I wante him to fail.

I wrote what I was thinking. When he first got elected, I wanted him to fail. Then you write it down and rationally look at it and hear how it reads out loud, you realize that you would have to be an idiot to want him to fail as bad as a lot of people do.

 

I hope he has success and but fails miserably at some of his wants/policies.

I hope he does well which is synomomous with saying I hope he fails to accomplish many of his stated objectives.

 

I hope he fails to bring home all the troops from Iraq in 16 months because I think it will take longer to do a proper withdraw.

 

I hope he fails to implement the kind of health care program he desires because the government controlled program he advocates would curb individual freedom, would be grossly inefficient, and would be so much more expensive than we could possbily afford

 

I hope he fails to remove the government surveilence programs he said he would end because I believe they are both legal and effective. (I also believe he secretly wants to fail to achieve this goal now that the responsbility falls on him.)

 

I hope he fails to nominate the kind of judges he desires because I believe they would have a flawed judicial philosophy and would also be pro-abortion.

 

I hope he fails to implement many of his proposed tax changes since I believe they would hurt the economy and actually increase the deficit.

 

I could go on but my wife wants me to do shopping so that will have to suffice.

I don't care who the president is, democrat or republican! No matter how much I may dislike them, I continue to hope and pray they do the things to either keep this country as well as the world in the right direction, or aim us in the right direction. IMO, Anything less would be un-American, and inhuman.

I hope the country does well under his watch, however if he gets into a liberal agenda on minor issues, other than the big things that our country faces, I will wish him failure.

I hope he succeeds in doing what is best for America.

 

When asking this questions, how do we define whether he succeeds or fails?

 

If he implements the policies he stated in his campaign, yet the country continues its decline...did he succeed or fail?

 

If he doesn't implement the policies and the country rebounds...did he succeed or fail?

I would think if the country continues its decline he failed, regardless of what individual policies he managed to implement. If it rebounds, he's a success.

Its a bind that, as a Conservative, I find myself in.

 

On the one hand, I want the new messiah to fail so desperately miserably that even Nancy Pelosi votes Republican in the next presidential election. Russia invades Ukraine, Hungary and Czechoslovakia with eyes on Poland too. Riots in major cities because the welfare check STILL isn't enough. Taxes so high many businesses close shop and the CEO's who can move to Costa Rica. Crime skyrockets, the stock market never moves above 7,000 and a terrorist with a dirty device is discovered only moments before....

 

But to wish that would also mean the millions who did NOT vote for this circus would suffer too. Mass unemployement, rampant inflation, gun bans, the works.

 

So the correct thing is to hope the new messiah is SUCCESSFUL. But that would mean he'd probably be elected to a second term. And like GW, that's when he'd turn off the answering machine and REALLY work his agenda one much worse than GW could ever have spawned: Reparations. Taxation to make things "fair". Redistribution of wealth. Your retirement accounts and savings seized to bail out Social Security. Mandatory Government Health Care. Everyone will be allowed to own guns in the same way people in Washington, D.C., now are: one revolver, which must be registered and can never be sold or gifted without an FFL involved. The chance to name 3 more ultra-liberal Supreme Court Justices, in addition to the 2 named in his first term.

I agree. To me, success is scored strictly on how the country is doing.

 

The only reason I ask is because some of the people who say they want Obama to fail, are basing that on their belief that his policies will be detrimental to the success of America. So, when they say they want him to fail, its not the same as saying they want America to fail. In fact, its exactly the opposite...they want him (his policies) to fail because, based on their personal beliefs, that is what will be best for the nation.

 

Rush Limbaugh got ripped for saying that, but when given an opportunity to explain the statement, he said as much.

 

Now, wishing things go bad in America so Obama will be criticized and viewed a failure because of it, is completely different.
