When Elizabethtown came to Lincoln earlier this week they had some really impressive young ladys.

From the NCKC Conference Sophomore and below:

West Soph. from Williamstown

Dixon Soph. from Walton Verona

Sandlin Fr. from Walton Verona

Curry Soph. from Carroll

Devine Fr. from Carroll

Mitchell Soph. from Trimble

 

I was at WVs game the other night and at times they had a 7th grader(Mullikan), 2 8th graders (Clinkenbeard & Sandlin), a Frosh (Ginn), and a Soph (Dixon) on the floor- and that looked like one of the better lineups they had. WV should be really talented in the years to come.

The Hammond girl from Rockcastle is just a sophomore and has been offered scholarships to University of Louisville and Western Kentucky University. Word is that Purdue is interested and An assistant coach from Vanderbilt was coming to a practice.

Crittenden and Moss at Ryle, Kring and Taulbee at Conner, Nash at Boone County and Clark at Notre Dame are all solid frosh in 9th region.

Let's just hope they all stay. Sometimes when you play MS kids you get disappointed on their choice of High School.

I recently saw two really good freshman players for Walton in Katie Slavey and Michelle Judy. These girls should be playing more over some of other girls for Walton. Judy is a force down low and Slavey is one of the better shooters I have seen this year in girls basketball.

Judy (8th grader) and Slavey (Freshman) are doing well for Walton.

#15 for Rowan Co. (9th),#34 for Rowan Co. (9th),#23 for Ashland (9th) are the best young talent I have seen in the 16th Region girls.

:thumb::thumb::thumb: I also agree that Judy and Slavey should see more time in the upper levels. Judy play almost the entire JV game. they recently pulled her off the freshman team so she would be more rested for the varsity games. I dont see what people see in Sandlin that they dont see in Judy. I think that Judy is in better shape and more athletic than Sandlin. Sandlin does have strenght, I will give her that. but put 50 lbs on Judy and they would be the same players. Judy probably wouldnt shoot the threes because she knows that she is a post player where sandlin wants to attempt those 3-point shots.

Sandlin and Judy play AAU ball together and have for about 4 years now. Judy is a strong player and should see more playing time at the upper level. When the two of them are in together they compliment each other well. Judy has her strengths underneath and Sandlin is learning to be an all-around player. I think they said she is about 40% from the 3-pt line, so that isn't too bad. Slavey and Clinkenbeard are much better at the 3's, but Sandlin seems to be working at it. All of these girls, except Slavey (9) are 8th graders so there is much more to come.

Any players from East? They are becoming a good team. Any players stand out for you?

Mitchell from Clay Co. Is a talented Freshman, Mays From Franklin Co. is a Freshman the Pittman kid from Casey Co. and Hisel from Tates Creek are talented Freshman The Clontz kid from South Laurel is also a Freshman. This would be a great Freshman team.

Eriel McKee (7th Grade) Anderson, had her coming out party tonight. She had 20+ points and probably 10 rebounds in the JV game versus Shelby. Then, she had 13 (I think all in the 2nd half) points in the Varsity game. She has a bright, bright future.
