Ryle's 8th graders and freshmen will be tough to beat! Moss, Crittendon, Cheeseman, Johnson, etc.

 

Absolutely Agree!! I saw them play this summer.

I don't know if I have ever seen a 8th grader as good, or with as much talent as Sandlin from WV. I did not know that she was only 12 yrs. old. I believe she is already a starter at WV. From what I have seen she has already been leading scorer and leading rebounder on several occasions. I can only imagine how good she will be with more experience. I think your best five underclassmen would be Hill from GC 5, Sandlin from WV 4, Wilhoit from W-town 3, Gayheart from Owen 2, Wainscott from SK 1 (possibly the best point guard in the 8th.) The eighth is definitely loaded with young talent.(Devine and Curry are also very nice players.)

 

Forgot about Wainscott at SK. She is solid. The main thing is that the players need to keep working hard and continue getting better.

I think you need to look at defense for these players also. I saw some not so good defense from a few of the players on the NCKC list. Since that is 1/2 of the game it must be considered on any rating.

 

You may not be the high scorer but if you are keeping the top girls on each team from putting up any points in a game then your contribution is greater.

Good point. We the fans sometimes get caught up in the offense portion of the game.

Rowan's freshman class is very athletic, and will flat out guard you. Taylor Lewis and Katherine Duff have the potential to be special offensive players.

There are some pretty good defenders on that list. Wilhoit and Curry will flat put the clamps on ya. Especially considering they both are a little undersized for their position. Hill and Devine (as a guard) are both good shot blockers:thumb:

Nelson County junior Samantha Drake is arguably the best player in the state regardless of class. She tallied 42 points and 17 rebounds tonight against the No. 1 team in the state in the H-L Cantrall Ratings.

Even more impressive, the first count I had on rebounds was incorrect. She actually was credited with 19.

Makayla Epps is actually an eighth-grader. That is an excellent up-and-coming bunch.

There is no doubt, the 8th Region is loaded with "young" talent. How would you like to have a team that consisted of: Gayhart at the point (9th), Devine at the two guard (9th), with Sandlin (8th) & Wilhoit (10th) playing the three,four, with Hill (10th) at the five. I would pay good money to see that team play together. All those kids have the potential to play at the next level, if that is their hearts desire. "THOSE FIVE ARE AMAZING TO WATCH" especially Sandlin who is only 12 years old, what a future for the 8th region.

Dixon should be included in the mix also. She works really hard at her game.

Holy Cross 8th grader Beal is a very good player that will only get better.

 

Meunch at New Cath is a 9th grader and will definately be a fine player. New cath is very deep at guard. IMO She would be playing big minutes at most other programs.

 

Of course all of the young Ryle girls are goning to be fun to watch.
