:thumb::thumb::thumb: I also agree that Judy and Slavey should see more time in the upper levels. Judy play almost the entire JV game. they recently pulled her off the freshman team so she would be more rested for the varsity games. I dont see what people see in Sandlin that they dont see in Judy. I think that Judy is in better shape and more athletic than Sandlin. Sandlin does have strenght, I will give her that. but put 50 lbs on Judy and they would be the same players. Judy probably wouldnt shoot the threes because she knows that she is a post player where sandlin wants to attempt those 3-point shots.

 

Desire, hustle and the willingness to learn

sets Sandlin apart from Judy at this point.

We played Grant Co. last night and they have a few young girls that looked pretty strong.

Deja can flat out play! From what I understand, she has great genes.

Freshman Kayla Day had 26 points and 15 rebounds vs Ashland. I'm biased of course but thats pretty impressive, especially the 15 rebounds from your point guard.

She is related to Dicky and if I am not mistaken, she is his niece

And yes. Dickie played at Covington Holmes.

I think you need to look at defense for these players also. I saw some not so good defense from a few of the players on the NCKC list. Since that is 1/2 of the game it must be considered on any rating.

 

You may not be the high scorer but if you are keeping the top girls on each team from putting up any points in a game then your contribution is greater.

 

Not so much greater, but I would give you equal perhaps. Someone still has to score to win, you may play the best defense but if you dont score you have no chance of winning.

It looks like Bourbon Co has a lot of talent coming up, after the upperclass graduates. All the way down to the 6th graders. I may be wrong and I am sure I will be schooled on the facts. Just my "rookie" opinion.

Mason County's 7th,8th, and 9th is flat loaded. Two freshman and a 7th grader start varsity, with the JV comprised mostly of freshman. The freshman team is mainly middle school players. Very young squad that is only gonna get better in due time.
