Fans of opposing team sure get red when getting beat 49 by blasting good kids conduct.

I was at the game (just got home) and I can tell you that I never heard any foul language being used. I've been with most of these boys for 7-8 years and have gotten pretty good at reading lips and expressions too and I didn't see any inappropriate comments this evening either. These guys have always behaved in a sportsman like manner. There are always a few calls that are guestioned (as their always are on both sides of the court) but these Elliott boys maintained their composure and went on with the game. I remember one instance in particular where C. Knipp got called for 2 fouls in about a minute but he just smiled, clapped and went on with the game.

Did Collins and Jackson play for Fairview?

No, but they could have brought back Clarence Thompson and Jeff Hall and it may not have made much difference.

Hazard is capable of beating Elliott IMO.

Everyone sees things differently, and has different definitions of passion and sportsmanlike conduct.

 

With that being said, Elliott County is a very athletic and skilled team. I am sure they will go far this season. Goodnight.

 

I wasn't at this game, but TO ME, at the EC vs. West game, I thought Elliott kinda showed up the referees that night. A few times they did have words to say with the officials, and once a player walked all the way up the floor talking with the official, and it didn't seem nice. I was shocked, usually Elliott doesn't act like this, but they did a little that night also with no penalty. Maybe it was just me, but I thought I would take up for you.

 

Elliott has a fine team, and most time when I have watched them they have been excellent sports. All teams are capable of being a little critical of the officials from time to time, and at the West game i DIDN'T hear any of the Lions players use inappropriate language. This post is in no way trying to bash Elliott, it is just stating an opinion.

At the Ec/Wc game the Elliott players were no worse than the Wc players about complaining to the officials. And the Wc coach was constantly on the floor screaming at them. I also just got through watching the Elliott/Fairview game on video and if I were the judge I would throw GTM's case out of court for lack of evidence!!!!!!!!!! There were players on both sides who made faces at calls and threw their hands up like "no way" just as there are in about every game I watched this year. I am sure that if a kid cusses in a game loud enough for Joe Coldiron or Bobby Hall to hear they will be T'd up. Seem's

like people are always trying to find something to pick on these boys about.

I would be the first to agree that during the EC/WC game, West players were just as bad. But, people make it out to say that Elliott would never do anything like that, and it's not true. Both teams, should have had a few T's that night, and that is a fact.

Do you know why? Their kids!!!! It's a natural thing. Even the most mild natured kids sometimes go at the officials. As for a T, I think that most players have to go at an official pretty hard in the 16th region before they get a technical, just from what I have watched. Cursing on the floor is something that happens from time to time, just as it happens at work or any place else. Every team is PROBABLY guilty of this, and IMO you just have to accept that. Because their kids!!! It happens. I'm not accusing anyone of cursing this season in particular because I haven't really paid attention to it this season but if someone said it happened it may have. Who knows? Maybe they were on a different part of the court then you were. Don't opposing fans generally sit on different sides?

No one is picking on Elliott, they are a fabulous team, but if you don't think that they have ever crossed the line in terms of complaining to the officials, every team is guilty as some point of time. Also, this is subjective. One person may feel something is too extreme, while another may see no problem in it.

I have never seen these boys act out as has been charged. I have seen polite discussion with the refs at times. It's sorta like when you can't convict someone because of a lack of evidence............You attack their character!:sssh: That being said, I don't believe the Elliott County boys acted in any way disrespectful of used any bad language!:irked: And aren't team captains allowed to talk with the refs?:confused:

I have seen the Faulkner's talk to the ref's all the time, don't see any harm in it.

Collins, Jackson and Turner DNP for the Eagles. Yes, they would certainly have made a difference. Would it have been enough? :idunno: Collins and Jackson are the two top scorers for Fairview. Perhaps they'll meet again in the finals @ Morehead.

 

As far as foul language, I did not hear any. Elliott is the clear #1 in the region at this point and possibly the state. I have seen these kids play for the last 4 years and have felt they conducted themselves properly and been very respectful of the other team and coaches.

I haven't heard much about Class A schools around the state I know Shelby Valley is good. But is there any small schools that can beat Elliott at Richmond.

 

Look I love this team and follow them with a passion. But, I have seen to much basketball and so many upsets and shockers that you can't take any game for granted. When EC doesn't play their best the games can be very competitive down to the wire i.e. West Carter and Anderson County. If and If is a big word, they play like they do about 95% of the time they will beat any all A team by double figures. Also, if it is a lopsided game it will only be in Elliott's favor. Any team that beats EC in the state of KY it will only be by the points on one hand. Shelby Valley or Hazard could be 1 or 2 point games in OT, but those teams are not going to win by much no matter how bad we play. But, even when not playing or shooting that well these guys find a way in the end to usually pull something out of the tank. That something is competitiveness, desire, and the will not to lose despite things not going the right way. That something is also 100s of games of experience and playing together coupled with maturity and composure. They will have to bring their A game and Elliott will have to play their D game for a down to the wire finish.

 

Also, Fairview was without the top 2 players in Collins and Jackson. That makes a difference for any team. How much of a difference no one can say unless we meet a healthy Fairview again in Johnson Arena.

Same here duck. Also talked with Coach Cooksey and very nice gentleman. Good luck to Fairview the rest of the season and here is hoping Collins and Jackson are back at full strength soon. I'm sure we will see a much different Fairview squad when those two are back at 100%. I am a people person and enjoy meeting nice folks like yourself. One thing we all have in common--we are brothers and sisters in this great land called---America.

I have seen the Faulkners talking to the refs on many occasions as a way to DISCUSS a particular call. They have done it respectfully and utilize this opportunity to learn from the experience in order to perfect their game/defense. But just because they are having a conversation with an official doesn't mean that they are attempting to influence him and they most certainly are not utilizing foul language. I don't know any of the officials personally, but with my observations over these many years I can honestly say that if any of them heard a player use profanity that individual would be penalized (technical) IMMEDIATELY.

 

I realize that everyone is supporting their own child/team, but attacking another child/children so publicly, personally and maliciously in an effort to destroy public opinion about these fine young men is not the way to conduct yourself.
