I always down for a few days when my son goes back to school. Since his dad and I are divorced, he tries really hard to make the time "equal" when he is able to come home. Even though it never works out that way, he and I have managed to make some really great memories of the time he is able to spend with me. For instance, two summers ago, he was home for the summer and we did a "pizza" tour in the neighborhood. We made it a quest to find the best pizza in the neighborhood, out of all the choices available...and none were a national chain.

 

Last summer, he had an internship, so he was only able to be home a week. We did a "best hotdog" quest. :lol:

 

Holidays are the worst, because, obviously, the demands on his time are greater. We just make sure that we are spending quality time together, and it makes it better.

 

We do make a point to talk once or twice a week, which helps immensely. I'm pretty sure he is placating me, but he'd never say so. :lol:

Could be a foundation problem. They really should get that looked at.

Daughter goes back to Georgetown on Monday; seems to be tougher on Mom but we will both miss her.

 

Son is finishing up his doctorate at the University of Washington this semester. Now that's a "fur piece".

And although I'm old and gray now, I remember coming home from college for the first time. Different doesn't begin to describe it.

Very true.

 

You always hope your child will grow up to be a responsible well adjusted adult and when they do........it is kind of sad. On one hand I couldnt be more proud of him, on the other I want to "ground" him one more time.........

The first time I left my mom got really sad. But now I've come and go so many times it seems like it's no big deal. I assume for all the same reasons that Henry listed.

Most parents will always miss their children when they go away. We can only hope the lesson's they learned carry them to great places.
