How many total fouls were called?

I am a bit surprised by this score. As far as refereeing goes from what I have seen refs in the 16th don't let kids play as much as they do in the bluegrass region. They typically call games a lot tighter. (Someone who has seen more 16 region games can correct me, but thats just an observation I have had).

You are right on LMB they will let you hammer somebody underneath and then call a touch foul at Half Court.

^ From what I've seen, the Bluegrass Region officials let a lot go under the basket.

 

They will often let a defender put one hand on the man with the ball, but not two.

Man, this is exactly what I thought might happen, Montgomery didn't have an answer for Metz. Didn't think it would be a blowout though.

Can not put a handle on someone that you can not get in trouble. This was noticed and even called on the radio, Rash drives to the basket and is hacked by Metz# 5. Referee goes to mid court as normal, faces scorers table and calls the foul on #2. # 2 was at least 8-10 feet away from the play.

 

But as an Indian fan, I will also admit that on a drive to the basket by Maze, he was sent to the floor with a no call.

 

One ref wanted to call everything and the other two were as inconsistent as could possibly be imagined. And by the way, the two inconsistent referees were the ones that called the two techicals on Coach Grieser.

I'll buy the referee excuse if it ends up a close game, but you can't pin 21 points on the refs. They didn't shoot 20% on three point attempts or make the 41% that Bath hit. They also didn't shoot 31% to 43% or get out-rebounded by 8. refs can influence a game to an extent, but good teams play through it.

 

That being said, it appears they did let this game get a little out of hand both ways. I didn't see the game, but if Greisser got t'd twice it must have been pretty poor officiating. And Hicks has been known to complain quite a bit about the officiating as well, (for example last week in their loss to Menifee County)

Last thing I am going to say and then life goes on. Halftime score was Bath 35, Montgomery 28. Third quarter (Griesers jacket comes off) they outscored MCHS 25-11. At one point in the third the fouls were 7 on MCHS and 1 on Bath. Back to back technicals came early in the fourth.

I think it was simply a matter of a lot of frustration built up throughout the course of the game, rather than one specific call. The first T came when he protested a foul called on MC. Then he got the second immediately after for walking out on the floor towards the official. It was pretty clear to me that after he got the first one, he had seen enough and was going to make them call the second one and get ejected. I've seen Coach G many times, and this is the first time I've seen him come close to losing his cool.

 

I thought the officiating was terrible....both ways. A ton of fouls were called on both teams and the game took forever. As someone stated earlier, they call the games much differently in the 16th than they do in the BBA. The officiating did not make a difference in the outcome, however......maybe the margin, but not the outcome. Montgomery Co. simply didn't play well at all. They shot the ball terribly (missed their first 13 3pt shots) and didn't have an answer for Metz.

When I heard a coach got tossed from this game I was shocked it was Grieser.

Your assessment is right on. It seems they tend to try to adjust a little to the homecourt team preference at times, however. Bath tends to play very physical, by 16th standards, and often 16th crews have trouble adjusting to that.

That being said, congratulations to Bath. The margin outweighs the other questions IMO.

Must have been the Montgomery Station. The one you are speaking about Rash made it around #2 (Hunt) on the way to the basket then was allowed the NBA continuation and put at the line for 2 shots? (Made one of 2) but hey should have been on the floor cause #2 was 8-10 feet from the basket.
