But as Clyde said, in Brossart and friends mind there is def. a mafia down there, because he needs to assure himself that it wasn't his terrible coaching that got him dismissed. People just chose him to have a vendetta aginst. lol

I have some updated information. Kevin Siple is interested in the CCH job. Depending on who he talks to he tells a different story but Coach Siple has expressed interest in the CCH head coaching job.

 

Also, Coach Siple has a fall back job as the offensive coordinator at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, OH (CHCA) if all else fails.

Wow! I can see why CovCath is interested in him, but unless CovCath is going to allow him to teach in Ohio and coach at CovCath, he'd be nuts to walk away from his years of Ohio teaching. So perhaps what I was told about CovCath requiring their coach to teach in the building was either wrong or they are now bending on that requirement to get the best possible coach. But I still wonder why Kevin would be interested in this job? And I don't mean to be disrespectful to CovCath. Its a great program, but he is friends with Brossart (who I sincerely doubt is saying good things how he was treated, rightly or wrongly) plus he coming into a situation where the expectations are high, make that extremely high to return CovCath to the promised land and pronto. Brossart may not have been a great coach (let's not get into that argument again) but it's not like CovCath was beating the pants off of Highlands before Brossart. Rodenberg did have two wins and only one loss against Highlands, but one of those wins was a last second, pull it out of his behind win, with a pass that is probably only completed on the high school level one time out of a hundred. And Ray didn't have much success against Highlands since Mueller arrived on the scene. So Siple should be thinking what happens if he takes the job and doesn't beat Highlands enough to keep the fans and more rabid supporters (I didn't call them the PH mafia) happy? Getting fired isn't good for anyone's resume.

 

Could his motivation for taking the job be that he wants to eventually replace Dale and he figures the best way to make that happen is to go to CovCath and beat Highlands so that when Dale's job eventually opens, Highlands will come a calling? If so, he might want to think about UK's reaction when Petino took the job at UL.

You just can't trust a red-head!! The ONLY way to beat HHS is with a coach that knows HHS iintimately. Sipes has been away too long to know us that well. They would have to hire Weinrich to consistently beat us...and that ain't happenin' !!

Why such a dour outlook? If both sides feel it is a good fit, more power to them.

 

And if by promised land you mean not losing by 8 touchdowns at halftime, then yes, CovCath fans do expect the next coach to lead us to the promised land. The expectations aren't as unrealistic as many seem to think.

I agree, CF. I don't think that there will be immediate pressure to beat HHS. I don't think that the expectations are extremely high nor is there pressure to return to the finals pronto. I think they're looking for a good long-term guy. No clue on the requirement to teach at CCH. Unlike my previous thoughts, I now would not rule out the new coach having Dave B on the staff.

I personally dont think Siple will be the next coach and Brossart would be selling out if he stepped down to be a coordinator for a school that has no faith in him. I think it will be a former CovCath guy.

I think there best chance to get better for the long haul is Kevin but I do think they will go with a former Colonel.

We don't know if he will be asked. I doubt it would be as an OC or DC. His expertise is the o-line. Sometimes you do things that are best for your family.

Highlands has a great program, great support, great kids....but not everything related to N Ky HS Football revolves around them. A coach can still be very successful and very well received by doing other things right. Anyway you look at it, Cov Cath is a top 5 position in N Ky. Beating HHS is a great bonus, but I doubt it is the main criteria for considering this position.

I won't pretend to speak for LN but his perception is that beating HHS is the #1 criterion in the minds of CCHers.
