You are correct that they WANT to beat HHS. Its simply not THE priority though in hiring a coach.

Beating Highlands is a priority just like beating Johnson Central, Harrison County, Bowling Green, and whoever else we may play in the playoffs is a priority.

But, hey I hope you are right and the CovCath supporters will be content with a coach that only beats Highlands every now and then as long as the losses are competitive.

 

On the one hand Cov Cath supporters do not want to aim so low as to be happy with competitive losses and only the occassional victory against Highlands. On the other hand, we do not want to saddle the incoming Coach with unreasonable expectations. All Cov Cath fans would like to beat Highlands every time we take the field against them. Realistically, most Cov Cath fans would be very pleased with a Coach who went .500 against the Bluebirds and was competitive year in year out.

I realize its a nebulous term but I've never gotten the mentality that success is ONLY finishing up at #1. My son played on a very strong team that couldn't get past the eventual state champion. In no way should he and his teammates look at that as being unsuccessful.

So, what exactly is it that you want to see the first two or three years out of the next coach at Cov. Cath.? What are the goals that you would like to see acheived in the next few years?

Agreed the schedule was killer and it should be.

 

However there have been quite a few hammerings in the 98 through 01 stretch. 70-26, 45-7, 35-10, 49-27, 52-22.

 

I would be surprised if Siple does leave an Ohio teaching job, although as guru said, it seems strange that he would be sending mixed messages to several people.
