So, what exactly is it that you want to see the first two or three years out of the next coach at Cov. Cath.? What are the goals that you would like to see acheived in the next few years?

 

Generate excitement in the program and school.

 

Show progress. Next year will be a challenging year.

 

Get the Colonels back to a top 5 team in 5A in 3 or 4 years.

I realize its a nebulous term but I've never gotten the mentality that success is ONLY finishing up at #1. My son played on a very strong team that couldn't get past the eventual state champion. In no way should he and his teammates look at that as being unsuccessful.

 

I don't look at the 05 or 06 Highlands teams as being unsuccessful. Do you?

Cath. won the game against Lex Cath., they would have met up with Highlands. Who knows how that game would have ended. 2006, Highlands lost to the eventual State Champs , Cov. Cath. Certainly not an unsuccessful year for either Highlands team, knowing the teams they played that year. Highlands played the Elders, Colerains, La Salle, and St. X. in close games those years. I will concure with you that the margin of loss in Cov. Caths. games this year is not good. However, I did not see those games and don't know how painful they really may have been.

 

 

So, definately no, Highlands '05 and '06 were not unsuccessful. If anything, they were one lucky catch and seconds away from a State Championship.:thumb:

Agreed the schedule was killer and it should be.

 

However there have been quite a few hammerings in the 98 through 01 stretch. 70-26, 45-7, 35-10, 49-27, 52-22.

 

I would be surprised if Siple does leave an Ohio teaching job, although as guru said, it seems strange that he would be sending mixed messages to several people.

I'm asking from an adult's perspective. I'd never base any hire on a 16 year old kid's thinking.

Although this year's hammerings had quite a bit to do with the lack of talent on the team. That has already been debated plenty on here.

 

However, I was a bit surprised at CCH only being 7 games above .500 during the last 11 years. I would think that number should be unacceptable to a fan. I think if that were the case in Fort Thomas, there would be a meltdown.

 

I think a 4 TD margin is a pretty good butt whipping. I guess a hammering would be 4+ TD's.

 

I would like to see you all get a quality coach, because in all honesty I think some of the luster has been lost from the rivalry.
