Estill County 100 Riverside Christian 12

Although the score was very lop sided and I think that some mercy should be shown when winning by that much, I have to agree with SportsGuy. And it does look like Estill played their whole team and you cant tell them to just give the other team the ball. Players are there to play not to give up and quit because they know there goint to win. I am sure there were people on the Estill Countys bench that do not see much playing time and they were given the chance to show what they got. Again I do feel for Riverside, but it will only make you better. You gotta take the good with the bad. Good luck to both teams.

For the millionth time, If people were not personally at a game, they cannot say a team was running up the score or that it was wrong!

You cannot tell your 11th through 15th player who gets into a game to just pull back and not score and/or to purposely turn the ball over. It's not fair to the players who work hard in practice, and it's not fair to the other team.

As long as a team up huge isn't pressing and such there is nothing wrong.

I really think that it is a typo and that South Laurel is playing in the Riverside Prep Showcase on Feb. 14. Also scheduled to be there on Feb.14 is Harlan, Johnson Central, Belfry, Breathitt County, Williamsburg and June Buchanan. Those are not the only teams scheduled to be there. Riverside Christian has scheduled themselves to play Evangel Christian on Feb. 13th. in the Riverside Prep Showcase.

Well, on South's schedule it says Riverside Christian.:thumb::sssh:

I think SL is supposed to play Shawnee. Which they may be out of the RPS for good due to a scheduling conflict with the LIT.

This was a tournament game so probably had no control over it unless they were the host team.

Estill was the host team in the tournament.

It says "at Riverside" which means either the brackets have not been set, or South Laurel's AD has not updated their schedule on KHSAA's website. That doesn't mean they will be playing Riverside... or several other teams are playing Riverside also in this tournament.

I notice on their schedule that Riverside Christian comes to Fleming Co on Tuesday night. That might be an interesting game to attend.

You must not know what it feels like to get beat by 88 if you think there is nothing wrong. Why wouldnt Estill make the 11th through 15th players run their plays through for a few minutes or something.

I'll be interested to see how the Williamsburg game on Jan. 16 plays out.

And hurt your players? They work hard too just like the starters, some even harder! Just run through the offensive play and shoot at a good shot. Anything less is cheating those kids who work hard.

Why don't we just give each coach a white flag before each game? Then if the losing coach decides he has had enough he just throws it on the floor, and the team quits the game and walks off the floor. That's what is being said that the winning team should do.

This team has had blow out loses many times this year, your not helping them, or your own bench players by making a mockery of the game and just hand the ball over to the losing team just so they feel good. Or how about this team just calls it a season already?

According to the box score, Estill scored 57 points after halftime. That's a little much considering they were already up by 40. I was expecting the box score to read more like 40-30-20-10 = 100. They scored more points in the fourth qtr up by 60 -- sorry guys that's just wrong.

So what do you do? Play with 4? Suit up some cheerleaders? They played all 15 and the starters only played 7 minutes. Hate to see games like this but it happens.

Estill was the host team in the tournament.

Hey, Riverside could have said "Thanks but no thanks" when asked to play in the event.

Why aren't the people that are upset by this score also upset with the power ranking system. I know for a fact that coaches use them to determine how much they are supposed to win a game by so they don't slip in the rankings. If a team is "favored" by 60 or 70 points doesn't "the system" set up butt whippings like this? Is it fair that a good team HAS to beat a bad team like this to keep it's rankings up? Why not write a letter to the Herald or Courier and rip their rankings. Get off Estill Co because they did everything they could short of telling their kids to quit playing. And how many of you have evere been to see Riverside Christian's school? It's in Lost Creek, KY and looks like a site for a summer camp. They probably shouldn't even field sports teams so put some of the blame on them. And where were you guys when Estill Co. was getting beat by 70+ pts in football back in the late '80s? Nobody cared about our feelings then, and guess what, we got over it and some of us have even led productive lives. Amazing ain't it?
