I agree. JB was once a talented 8th grader that made the team. Him and Kyle Pfetzer were the only middle schoolers that year thast made it.

How tall was Fred in the 8th grade??? :idunno:

Same as now.

Cocktails and baseball talk at an undisclosed location this evening for the old man!!!!

If you are a talented 8th grader and you deserve to make the team, there is no doubt JB would put the kid on the team. However, although the opportunity was offered, absolutely no 8th grader took the opportunity to work out with the team the past couple of months. Coach JB specifically stated at the parent's baseball team meeting that he want players with not only talent, but those that give effort and leadership. JB has the same philosophy as the HHS football program. Tryouts are next week. Those that "deserve" to make the team, will make the team.

I know there are a bunch of 7th graders who would have loved to have been working out with the team these past couple months. We shouldn't have the same problem next year!

How about the froshman not having a chance first?

My understanding is sometimes there haven't been enough high school kids to fill out the JV team, so 8th graders filled the open spots. With the increased amount of kids trying out this year, however, I assume there most likely won't be any spots left for 8th graders (I guess unless they actually beat out the freshmen). A frosh team would give those 8th graders a place to pay in the Highlands system (there is no middle school team).
