January 15, 200917 yr If you fill in the bracket and guess the final 4, who would you have playing? (There are a few potential second round game that may be interesting: Clinton Co. vs S. Laurel and Monroe Co. vs W. Jessamine) I believe the winner of the Clinton Co./ S. Laurel game goes to the final four and would face Lincoln Co. The other side of the bracket would have Wayne Co. playing the winner of Elliott Co. vs Monroe Co. My pick to win the 6th grade state is Wayne Co. Their side of the bracket looks more appealing. But, I was wrong last year so there is a good chance I will be wrong again this year.
January 15, 200917 yr Author I think if Dalton is healthy Clinton beats South Laurel. With it being the 3rd game of the day I think South will had a big advantage because Daqlton is usually really struggling with his knees by then. Other than Dalton's health, I think Clinton is better conditioned for a 3rd game. If Clinton can win the first two and not have to play Dalton very much at all, I like the Bulldogs chances. I completely agree with your predictions. The 2 wildcards are Georgetown with the big boy agaist Lincoln and JCTMS agaist Wayne. I heard that they have some of the Legends players. Also, one of the Lexington schools has to be competitive you would think. The best play in game might be Northern and LCA. That will be a real tossup.
January 15, 200917 yr Who has seen Grant County 6th grade boys. Surely someone in northern Kentucky has seen them play. Also, any info on McNabb, Anderson County, and Elkhorn. What about Campbell County? The brackets are posted on the KBA web site. I am pretty sure Campbell Co. doesn't have much at all...
January 16, 200917 yr Scott County beat West Jessamine tonight 37-31 after falling behind 15-6. SC hit a 3 to end the 2nd quarter, then outscored West 21-5 in the 3rd to lead by 10 going into the fourth quarter. One of the big kids from West had about 1/2 of their points. SC just moved the ball very well against pressure in the 3rd and probably played their best quarter of the season. West may still be the favorite in the play-in game, but SC showed it can easily win the game. The loser of that West-SC game will most likely be out early as they will probably play Wayne County in the first round of the single elimination.

You don't want to face Wayne Co. in the first round of single elimination!
January 16, 200917 yr Yes, that is one of the must win play in games. You don't want to face Wayne Co. in the first round of single elimination! Of course, I am not sure it's any better for the winner. Have to play the loser of the Mason-JCTMS game. That could be tough for either SC or West as well.
January 16, 200917 yr Author Mason is ok but not that good. JCTMS is a real unknown, I've tried to find out if we know any of the kids but have had no luck yet. Someone said they thought a couple of the Legends players were on that squad.
January 18, 200917 yr Author I believe Scott will beat West. Just stop the Marida twins and pressure their guards. Any more info on McNabb or Anderson County?
January 19, 200917 yr Author We played Walton in the BCI state tournament last season. They are a very solid team. I have never seen Campbell County but Somerset plays them in the first round and our kids play together with the Somerset kids in the summer.

You might want to send him a private message. Walton's 6th has been playing poorly lately. Wayne will coast thru that game.
January 23, 200917 yr Alright, just 2 days until the 6th grade state tournament at KBA in Lexington. Who do you have? Meece, Wayne, Scott, South Laurel, Lincoln, or somebody else???
January 23, 200917 yr Author Here's my humble choices for the final 4 top quarter bracket Lincoln County- very talented, very deep sleeper- Georgetown- great big man, upset here if the guards step up 2nd quarter bracket- Clinton County- return 3 starters from state runner-up team last season. sleeper South Laurel- if Dalton is not near 100% the Cardinals will send Clinton home early. 3rd quarter bracket- Elliott County-talented squad hungry for statewide pub sleeper- Monroe County- a very good team from Western Ky bottom quarter bracket- Wayne County- very good with a dominating big man. sleepers- Mason, JCTMS either is capable of the big upset one last sleeper- Morton could send South Laurel and Clinton home early.
January 24, 200917 yr Author Almost game time, my pick for the finals is Lincoln County over Wayne County by 4 in the championship game. I hope it's the Bulldogs of Clinton County but we haven't put it all together yet like we did last season. Of course that happened at the state last year so anything is possible.
