I talked with today and they have 32 teams signed up. Should be a great tournament. On a down note, Meece middle's 6th grader Tiler Dishman broke his arm and will be out 10-12 weeks.

I heard Walton Verona is in. They have a one of the better guard's in N. KY. They won't contend.

You got a list of the teams? Anyone from my area?

Here is a list of the teams entered into the 6th grade middle school state tournament so far.

No Friday games will be played this year, it's all on Saturday and Sunday.

Will there be no Friday games for 7th and 8th also?

There will be Friday games for 7th and 8th. There will be play in games for 6th on Saturday morning.

Does anyone have a more current list, I know it is full with 32 teams and 4-5 on the waiting list.

There will be no limit on the 7th and 8th.

That is ridiculous is the KBA is cutting it off at 32. With 5 courts, an extra couple of games here or there is not going to hurt anything. Plus it back to Friday if you get an abundance of teams. Now, if they would have promoted it all along as the first 32 to enter, then that's different. But, I know of no such asterisk. How can it really be called a state championship now if you are going to stopped some teams entry into the tournament?

Here is a current list, Southern (Southwestern middle) is the only team on the waiting list and 2-3 always back out when they get their draw. I would still call, I believe everyone that wants in will get in. Everybody that registered by the advertised date got in. There were 2-3 after the cutoff, they were taken in order. The forms were mailed to every middle school in the state about 2 months ago. I don't see anyone that could win it, not in the tourney field.

Anyone with any info on any of these teams please post it.

ONly WV and Campb Co from NKY. That is pretty weak.

Of the 32 teams, who is the best team you have seen or played this year? For me it would have to be Wayne and Lincoln Co. South Laurel is also very good. Wayne has beaten both of these teams, but if Wayne and Lincoln played again I would say Lincoln would win.

1) Lincon Co.

2) Wayne Co.

3) S. Laurel

Who has seen Grant County 6th grade boys. Surely someone in northern Kentucky has seen them play.

Also, any info on McNabb, Anderson County, and Elkhorn.

What about Campbell County?

The brackets are posted on the KBA web site.

Grant County is average. They beat Scott County by 8-9, but it was a 2-3 point game until FT's down the stretch. They are not big, but they have similar sized kids at all positions that are a notch below in size from a true post player. Their point guard is their best player. They played man to man against Scott County, but I have seen that coach play a lot of 3-2 in the past.

Scott County played Elkhorn last night, winning by 9-10 after falling behind 10-0. They are not very good and won't be a threat to do much damage. Elkhorn played a 1/2 court 3-2 trap, which was most effective on their small court. It wouldn't be an issue on a regular-sized court.

I saw Grant County play Ockerman at Grant County. I thought Grant was well coached and has some nice players but Ockerman dominated them and called off the press and the dogs early in the game.

I am sure Grant has improved a lot but Ockerman could have beat Grant by 40 if they wanted to.

I wish Ockerman would have entered in this tourney. I don't know if they could win....but definitely would have competed. They haven't been challenged in their league. Guards are above average with athletic skilled bigs. IMO, this is the the team that would competitively represented N. KY.....others would be Newport Catholic, Twenhofel and Turkeyfoot.
