NKY Top 10

Ben Fanzen was their 3rd pitcher behind Woodruff and Estes. Coffman didn't have many innings last year. I meant the Camels return their # 2 hitter, Ryan Lauer, and Matt Coffman as their starting Catcher as opposed to part time last season. Estes will be in the outfield, Franzen can play shortstop or outfield. Lauer is the 2nd baseman. Albrecht will be back this year to hopefully play 1st or 3rd. The rest of the team will comprise of the successful JV team and maybe a few sophomores. Broering is also returning lefty pitcher who threw JV as frosh and varsity as soph.

Coffman throws the ball pretty hard, but he has problems with location, am I correct? And does he still play basketball for the Camels?

CCH has improved since their sophmore season. And it's not much of a question that they are the team to beat this year.

I do not think his location is what got them, as he put the ball where many other pitchers have put it and CCH had no problem with hitting. His motion [sidearm] threw them off, and I heard this from two reliable sources [kids who batted against him in that game].

Motion doesn't hurt good hitters that would be the excuse for "he locates it where I can't hit it". Good hitters are not fooled by a "motion".

I'm telling you what I was told. :) And the couple of kids that I talked to are VERY GOOD HITTERS. Jeramie Conner is a very good pitcher, and he brings the ball to the plate with a fast motion.

All this talk about how good Scott and Campbell will be in the 37th but no one seems to mention anything about Bishop Brossart. Brossart returns everyone of their starters other than 3 guys. Their pitching will be just as good if not betetr than last year. They return their #2 guy from last year, which is Travis Norton. This kid was a freshmen last year and boy can he play. He started for the Mustangs all last season and can only get better. I cant wait to see how he progresses, he will be one of the top players in NKY by his Junior year. They also gain a pitcher who could not throw last year due to injury but from what his summer coach has said he is a very very good pitcher.

They also lose their 2nd baseman/shortstop and their right fielder so they do not lose hardly anything. Their offense will also be just as good and better. The one thing about Brossart that is consistent every year is they always put up a tough fight and this year will not be any different. I would have to say they are probably the favorite to win the 37th District this year. Scott has no pitching except for EJ Murray and he can't win every game for them and once you get passed him their is no one who can beat Brossart. I heard a rumor that Estes of Campbell hurt his arm in summer ball last year and wont be able to throw this season but like i said it could be just a rumor. If however that is the case the Camels are down to no pitching. Ben Franzen is not that good.

All im saying is that Brossart does not get anything close to the respect they should get. But then again they never do at the beginning of the season and by the end of the year everyone always says how tough of a team they are to beat. I wish people would just realize and understand that they are a very good baseball school and will be competitive every year. I would think after how Brossart performs each year that people would start talking about them and give them the respect they are due. They always have been and always will be a dangerous team.

Im calling it now the Brossart Mustangs WILL win the 37th district this year and will be top 5 in NKY!

I'd throw Teddy Abner's name in there for the Birds this season, along with others already mentioned. He'll provide senior leadership because of the way he plays the game and is well liked and respected by his teammates.

Great point. I think the Birds are really, really going to surprise some folks this year.

Those "ROLE"players have faired pretty well over the last couple years .They have played for 2 freshman championships and made the semi's (I think) in the JV REGIONALS.They lost to eventual champ Ryle.

Not bad for a bunch of role players.

Maybe you are right ,time will tell.

Where do you think the Tigers will end up this year then?

Coffman decided not to play basketball this season. Ben Franzen pitched a lot over the summer, and with his experience last seaon pitching varsity he will only get better, he is a good pitcher, his delivery throws hitters off. Estes hurt his arm making a throw from right field this summer, but he has been back to 100 percent for a month or so!

I thought they won the championship against Ryle that year.

Is there a catcher who goes to Scott name Dave Thomas?

yes

I guess we just agree to disagree.

Yes there is but its hard to say whether or not he will be the starting catcher or not. They are extremely weak at that position and it is that that will hurt their chances come post-season.

The 37th district should be very fun again this season!

I agree but then again it always is! It is most definitely the toughest and most exciting district in the 10th region.
