Not really, only because of the respect I had for the ladies anyway. I could tell without experiencing it that it was no walk in the park...

 

There is one difference that may make kidney stones worse. I have no one to take this out on. I mean, a mother can always think back to the day of child birth and ground the kid. I have a stupid rock in a jar...

How ya doing Sticky? Leatherneck came down with one of those the Wed. before the state game. It was rough. Yea it was a little rough for him also. I told him that a nice stone for Christmas would be nice but that wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

Doing good today. Kidney is still a bit sore but it's manageable...

Did they IV the Toradol or give you the shot. I have taken the shot multiple times and it deaden the pain put not like a painkiller. Back in the day I was takin them every week.

Probably not your kidney that's sore. More likely residual spasms in the ureter from where it was scratched by the stone.

 

I like to consider myself a kidney stone expect. Plus, I did sleep at a Holiday Inn once . . . .

 

You going to get it tested? They say you should, though it's almost a certainty that's it a calcium stone. Other than increasing your intake of water, not much you can do to prevent them. Some people are just lucky . . . . :madman:

Your calcium and potassium intakes are important too.

I've had 5 of these. I feel your pain and just now saw the thread.

 

I went about 10 years between #4 and #5. #5 was this past August. I took Vicodin, Coedine and some Phengren within the first 2 hours. But by hour 4 I was in a position I didn't think was humanly possible, snaked around the toilet. (On a gross note, it's amazing what we don't clean up under the back of that porcelin world.)

 

I finally went to the ER when the Doctor said they had better drugs than anyone. My wife drove me there with me sitting on my knees in the passenger seat floorboard and my face buried in the seat, backwards.

 

Luckily the ER was low in #, I muttered kidney stone and they put me through right away. One of my church members was my nurse and she told me, "We'll take care of you. I've got the good stuff. The first two shots will help but the third shot will burn and we will put the rails on the bed up after that is over so you don't fly away."

 

She was right. That third shot I immediately felt my soul leave my body. I even remember saying something to my wife like: "I know there really aren't bugs on that wall but I'd swear to you there are."

 

Right after that the nurse told my wife, we need a urine specimen. My wife said, "Don't you think we should have gotten that before you hit him with the 3rd shot?" So I slumped against the bed with my wife holding a jug for what must have been 15 minutes. At one point I thought I had actually urinated and my wife said, 'They will need more than a drop hunny. I mean it.'"

 

Good news was they pain meds helped me get BACK ON TOP of the pain and manage it. That's the biggest key. I passed it 2 days later.

 

When I got back to the church office later that week, a church member who thinks he's a humorist had left me a present on my desk. He took a softball and wrapped barbed wire through it and around it. He wrote on the ball: "Hatz' worst nightmare. Passed on August 15, 2008."

 

It sits proudly in my office to this day.
