In OT. Great game. Yager hit a three at the end of regulation to send it into OT. Carroll led probably 90% of the game, 31-18 at the half. Gallatin kept chipping away and finally took the lead with less than 3 minutes to go before Carroll battled back and held on in OT. Coldiron, who is regularly called the best official in the 8th region, IMHO has lost it. He was terrible, as were his partners, tonight. He seems to be in Jon Jones back pocket.

Maybe it wasn't, I don't know. It just seems that Gallatin gets away with pretty much mugging the ball handlers in their press. They look like fire ants attacking a dead animal. So much contact is made and they very rarely get whistled for it. And when they do get a foul called Jones can't beleive it. It's intimidating to the officials and he usually gets a make-up call shortly thereafter. That's my take on it anyway.

The "best" that I've seen at "working" the officials and getting "favorable" calls (or no-calls) is Billy Hicks at Scott County. Their press can involve a lot of contact that is never whistled. So, you can't tell me some of those officials aren't intimidated by his "antics". Can't say that it's right or wrong, it's just the way it is. And Jon Jones is not alone in trying to do what he can to get a "W" for his team.

Gallatin is good at what they do so the Panthers will have to make some adjustments for the next time they meet. I am sure that the Wildcats will make some adjustments also. That is what makes the game so interesting.

First congrats to Carroll on a big district win. As I've said in other post, senior led teams are usually hard to beat and when talking about the smaller schools like Carroll, Gallatin, Trimble, ect... juniors can be put into that catagory. Coach Yeager did not inherit an empty cupboard, this current team knows how to win. They were my preseason pick to win the All "A" and the district, both at home. That hasn't changed however Gallatin is better than I thought they would be (because of their youth).

The contest was also the first of 5 games in 5 days for both teams. The Panthers open up the Gallatin Steel Invitational at 2:00 today against Dayton. The Wildcats take on Eminence at 8.

Good Point I was thinking about this last night while watching the game. The intensity both teams played with was amazing. I think both teams will be ready to play but it will be tough to match the intensity they have when they play each other.

Im not surprised by the outcome of this one.Carrolls seniors and juniors both captured N.C.K.C. championships as 8th graders in hard fought contests with the Wildcats.I see no reason for that trend not to continue.Its always fun to watch both clubs get after each other.Good job Panthers.:thumb:

This Carroll County team is comprised of a great bunch of kids that do well in school and are a stand up bunch off the court. With the addition of a quality man as their coach you can look forward to the rest of this season with great anticipation.

 

BTW hats off to the Wildcats for fighting back in the second half and making this one a fantastic game.

Exciting game to watch to say the least. Sweet Prediciton Super B, by the way I need the powerball numbers for tomorrow.

Seriously it was good to see CC not only compete with Gallatin again, but pull out a big time win. GC is a very respected team wherever you go, and when you beat a team like Gallatin you start to believe in yourself. I can guarantee Yager preaches to these boys that they belong at the top, now I hope the boys take that into every game with them.

This district as well as the ALL A is going to be a battle all year long.

The best thing about a rivalry game like this is it was a very physical ,hard fought game in which the players truly showed great sportmanship as did the coaches and fans.

 

Just talked to a Wildcat fan and he said even though he was disappointed to see us lose he was happy for Mr. Yager (he's still Mr. Yager in these parts) and Will for hitting the big shot.
