I haven't seen a link yet, but a friend just texted me that Chris Matthews is now a Wildcat. He is apparently a really good 4-star WR. Anyone else hear this yet?

I'm happy to see the Cats get something higher than a 2-star or 3-star recruit that will take a couple of years to develop. It'll be nice to have another Randall Cobb type star come in as a freshman.

From KSR (Matt Jones)...

Chris Matthews WR

Matthews is a 6-5, 210 pound wideout from Los Angeles Harbor Community College and is a four-star prospect according to Rivals. Matthews had 32 catches for 529 yards and 4 TDs this year, which was down slightly from the previous year’s numbers of 44 catches for 700 yards and 8 TDs. Matthews runs a 4.5 and Rivals says he’s been offered by Memphis, New Mexico, Akron and Marshall. ESPN says he’s being recruited also by Oklahoma, Kansas State, Oregon and Nebraska. He is currently ranked as Rivals’ #9 JUCO player.

Nice, nice get and at a position we needed to land someone at most. This should work out nicely going into next year, doesn't have blazing speed, but very big target who will give a great look around the goalline and on that pylon fade. Would really like to see us grab one more top notch Wide-Out before the period ends, but none-the-less I think next years WR core is shaping up a bit better than last years, Cobb getting back out there, Aaron Boyd hopefully having a healthy and productive off-season should put up nice numbers, and now Matthews who adds a tall (hopefully strong) target. Now lets just hope we get both Mossakowski and Newton both on campus, into a productive duel for the starting job, then whoever loses in the game with their hands on the ball on a few plays (whether at wide out or like a h-back) and pray the offense will be a lot better than it was this year.

His body type and 4.5 speed sounds like the Keyshawn Johnson mold of WR. It will be nice to have Cobb in the slot with this guy.
