Covington Holmes 70 Scott County 65

Riley needs to start concentrating more on his shots inside the arc since his percentage is lower than from trey-ville. WOW! Holmes is dynamite and it will take a huge effort and off-shooting night by Riley and Friends for any of the 9th region teams to get it done vs. this bunch of Dawgs!

Not made up at all. Riley has only missed 5 shots all year and scary part about this is that only one of those shots was a 3 pointer. He is 14-15 from behind the arc.

On a side note; Riley was going into his freshman year, and we was shooting around in open gym at the Northern Kentucky Boys & Girls Club I watched him make 22 in a row. 1 after another. He was shooting them like free throws.

Eta Roh, Do you have any insight or idea what Arrez and Billy G might have talked about? Any interest from colleges yet? Will he be able to leave Cincy St after his fresh year or will he be there for 2yrs.

Avery shot very well, but 1 assist and 3 turnovers is not generating many points from a point guard perspective. I'd say he is one of the best SHOOTING guards in the state, but not sure about all-around, including defense.

I think you mean Riley and sure he only had 1 assist, but he also had 20 points. How is that not generating points from the PG position? R. Johnson actually ran the point more than Riley last night, which was the reason he had more assists. (4)

As far as defense goes, Riley is a very good defender, but Guyn is just that good. It's not like he had wide open shots. Riley was right there with him. No other 6' PG in the state is going to stop Guyn if he tries to take over a game like he did last night.

Riley is HANDS DOWN the best PG in NKY and one of the top 5-10 in the state.

Not sure but I'll do a little digging and try to find out for you.

Well sure, I could paint you lots of made-up scenarios in which someone could give Holmes a game. But, generally speaking, it would take some kind of unusual scenario for someone to stay with them. Frankly, I see the other 9th teams falling into foul trouble against Holmes as they try to keep up with Holmes' speed. I guess we'll see as it plays out. I predict no one stays within 20 points of them.

I'm a big Holmes fan but I'm pretty sure they will have a couple close games in the 9th..I think Beechwood and Newport already stayed within 20.

Well, okay, 19 then. :D (Beechwood 48-67; Newport 43-62).

You must not know Coach Henley very well. This is not a knock on either of those schools, but if you think Holmes is only 20 pts. better than those Teams, that's on you. Henley is a a very respected Coach for more reasons than one. That said, I do agree that Holmes will be tested a few times in the 9th.

Pittman didn't play the whole first half which led to Beechwood keeping it close. Second half Holmes was up by as many as 23.

Newport game, Holmes led by 34 before calling the dogs off (no pun intended) with 6 minutes to go. Newport left their starters in against Holmes JV which led to the final score.

I do agree though that they will have a few close games. I think Ryle and Highlands will give them their two closest games.

.. Henley will not run up the score as well and will result in games in which they get outscored in the 4th Q to make the game look closer.

Not Boone??

Not Boone??

:sssh:

I feel Highlands and Ryle are both more physical on defense which could give Holmes problems. Boone doesn't have an inside game either like either of those two teams which will hurt them against Holmes.

For those of you who know the Holmes players, what type of kid is Pittman? I noticed last night he was running his mouth to Euton all night. I know Euton will get this from a lot of players because of his UK commitment. I just think he would be a greater player if he just would play his game and let that do his talking for him.

I think all of Riley's threes were pretty open except one. I know that Guyn was guarding him on at least 2-3 of the shots. How many assists and turnovers did Riley have?

Agree that AAU has nothing to do with high school. I was responding to the assertion that no 5 players in NKY could play with Holmes 5. I was responding for the 2010 players since I've never seen a mixture of 2010 and 2009 NKY allstart players play Holmes 2009 and 2010 players.

Take Riley's 5-6 shooting from 3 away from last night's game, and you could have a different outcome too. He can't shoot 80% indefinitely out there.

Actually, I saw Riley play in about 10-15 games this summer, and he shot like that in most of them and averaged about 25-30 points a game. Many of those shots were with someone in his face. He just doesn't miss many shots and is pretty selective about when he shoots too. His basketball IQ is very high.
