HT721
It's called discrimination. You couldn't prove discrimination on this hire in a thousand years in court and a judge in Alabama especially would laugh you out of the court house if you even tried. Since I did not sit in on the hiring process, I would have no idea if there was discrimination. You obviously have inside info that we're not privvy to. Anytime you hire a non minority over a minority with similar qualifications you better have thorough documentation as to why the diverse candidate was not hired. As far a the Judge in Alabama comment, I'm not sure I follow there. Are you intimating a judge in Alabama may rule different than a judge elsewhere? Why would that be?? That would be partially racism, but I'm sure Auburn covered their bases well on this one, Jacobs knew the heat would come hiring Chizik over some of the minority coaches he interviewed and he was prepared for it. Although, it is his job on the line with this hire.
Scott Baio
Chzik has an exceptional resume with the obvious exception of Iowa State, but I think Auburn really passed on one of the best young coaches out their, but Turner Gill will be fine. hoopboy
He may be however it certainly doesn't mean he's wrong in this case. Even still, he's only hurting any minorities chances of getting hired after his rantings. The guys needs to grow up, but his IQ probably won't allow it. hoopboy
There is no way you can prove that. Gill may not be the best fit for Auburn. I by no means think this is a good hire but everything isn't about race and every decision in the south isn't made because of racism. Sure it is, why do you think Miss. St. hired Sylvester, "The Cat" Croom.
Boxer44
Sure it is, why do you think Miss. St. hired Sylvester, "The Cat" Croom. So you are saying that Miss. St. only hired Croom because he was black?

Clyde
Here is a very interesting conspiracy theory as to why Tub left and why Chizik got hired. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/93946-intrigue-conspiracy-and-a-great-story-may-have-gotten-gene-chizik-a-job Auburn's admin is a joke if any of this is true. Clyde
Unnamed SEC football coaches told a writer that there was zero chance Turner Gill would get hired because he's a black man.....married to a white woman. http://deadspin.com/5110639/was-turner-gill-denied-the-auburn-job-because-of-his-white-wife
swamprat
I love unnamed sources. Especially the ones that are non-existent or figments of the reports imagination as he, she, or it, makes up the quote.
