Although, I do agree with her on some things. On the field during the game, FC was a little more disrespectful. Sitting in the stands, I heard numerous comments that were being yelled at us by the FC players. On the other hand, after the game, it looked as if they were a completely different group, they seemed very respectful when both teams shook hands.

Not really sure about it....but after witnessing some pretty dirty plays from the Ft. Campbell side, I can't really blame them. I know that NCC started fighting back after they were provoked but I honestly do not feel that Ft. Campbell is a very sportmanship like team. Great football players....don't get me wrong. And congrats on their great season....but I watched quite a few incidents that left me shaking my head. For instance, not very classy to go to the opponents bench and talk smack. Not very classy to start throwing punches at an O-lineman while he was down. Of course no penalties were called. I can totally accept a loss but the whole demeanor of the game left a bad taste in my mouth. I do realize that NCC had one personal foul and I totally agree that it was ridiculous and should not have happened. I think he was just reacting to the many dirty plays that had been going on. No excuse. He should have kept his head together. There is a reason why NCC received recognition by the KHSAA for Excellence in Sportsmanship. BTW, I didn't notice much of a delay.

Well, I wasn't there to watch the game, I was listening from my room in Afghanistan, so I can't vouch for anything that Fort Campbell players did during the game, dirty plays, bench taunting, etc..

 

The announcers that I listened to made it seem like there was a bit of a delay in NCC coming over to shake hands at the end, that's why I had asked for someone to clarify the sitation for me.

Again, I wasn't in the stands, so I can't say what was said, and what was not said for that matter.

 

All in all, I can't vouch for dirty plays, punches thrown, or anything like that. I can say that football is a contact sport and sometimes things happen.

The delay is because the KHSAA wanted to give out the individual and team trophies before the hand shakes. I don't think it had anything to do with anything else, because they did indeed shake hands after the trophies were handed out.

I'm not at all riled up (that's assuming I'm the superfalcon your referring to)... I don't have a dog in this fight, however, I hate to see people dog a team and pawn it off as an "objective" observation when it's most likely anything but. I just have my doubt's that Ft. Campbell was punching players and cursing players and fans, so I voice my doubt.

Semperfifalcon: Thanks for the support to Fort Campbell. What most probably don't realize is that you are not from Fort Campbell, that you are one of those great Fans of the other Falcon team from Monroe (Who Fort Campbell just played a little over a week ago in the last round of playoffs for the region). The Fort Fans appreciate you though standing up for our boys.

 

I was there at the game and watched a very physical football game go on, on both sides of the field. I saw NCC players get just as into this game as the FC players. Were either trying to be disrespectful, as implied? I doubt it. I just think these kids from both teams really wanted this game and they all played a hard fought football game. Enough said.

 

Congrats to NCC for another great season, and a very close game. Please know that the Fort kids play hard, but are NOT disrespectful. They are more than ready to shake all hands and congratulate the other team on a good game. I would hope your team would be that way too! (And from what I saw, your team did just that!)

I haven't seen the replay of the game yet to see if any of the bench taunting, punch throwing, etc was shown. However, I was there......not only did I see it happen but everyone around me was amazed as well.

 

To clarify....I shouldn't overgeneralize about Ft. Campbell as a whole. There were a handful of players (maybe 3 or 4) that I am referring to. I can't say that the team as a whole was like that. But there were those few that made the team look bad. I'm not saying NCC was without blame. We had a few scrappers in our midst as well.

Like I said above FC was a classy team on their trip to T-Ville, they went out of their way to shake everyone’s hand to include several MC fans that had made there way to the field. They even walked way down the MC sideline to find a MC player (senior) that had been injured and required the use of crutches so he didn’t go through the handshake line, the FC players found him and wished him well. First class if you ask me...

I also want to give cudos to Mark Kelly and Robbie Kues on gutting it out with injuries they sustained. Robbie dislocated his left shoulder again. The preliminary report on Mark Kelly is a partial tear of his MCL. Both teams left it all on the field today which made for a great, great championship game.

 

#45 was in serious pain on the sideline as the doctor and trainer put his shoulder back into place. He never went to the locker room, never missed another down on offense.

Sorry but you sure sound like a sore loser! I gave you the benefit of the doubt, because it was a very good, hard fought game between two teams that had the desire to win, but this is just whining! Let it go!

We played Monroe County at Tompkinsville in the Semi and it was a hard-hitting game, which included the MC senior being injured and on crutches by the end of the game. After the game, Josh Carter made a special trip to the Monroe end of the field to check his status. We spoke with many Monroe fans after the game and they wished us all well in the championship. Immediately following the game, I made multiple posts on BGP commenting on the great atmosphere in Tompkinsville and how I believe Coach Pettit deserved coach of the year honors.

Satuday at Papa John's, Monroe County had 15 or 20 players and parents sitting on the FC side of the field cheering for the FC Falcons. I think that gesture of support is a priceless testament to our shared love of the game and respect for each program.

 

Now, the day after NCC gets handed their BACK TO BACK loss in the championship we hear comments about Fort Campbell's sportsmanship. It is nothing but sour grapes from their side and I am not going to get in the mud and roll around with this baseless argument.
