I think Barry Sanders. And as much as we don't want to say his name, Mr. White Bronco has to be in the conversation.

If I had to rank my top 3:

1. Sanders

2. Brown

3. Walter

and OJ, Earl Campbell, Sayers IMO right behind. (Of course not all the numbers tell the tale, at least not for me)

I agree with your top 3, but I think you have Earl Campbell too high. I actually think the Bus was as good if not better EC.

Can a mod add a poll to this thread? Thanks

Earl Campbell was one of the backs I least liked to see my guys play against, and one I thoroughly enjoyed watching against other folks. When he ran over Lambert on the goal line, I knew he was a beast. For a stretch of a few years, he was the best in the league, IMO. Probably won't garner much support on that one, just a personal preference.:thumb:

Yep with a little humorous twist!:D

I think LT may be as good as any of these guys

I grew up watching Earl Campbell. While I LOVE the Bus and could cheer for him no matter who he played for, ... I have to say that Earl Campbell was better. I was a Steelers fan growing up and he was the one back who scared me to death anytime the Steelers played the Oilers.

I'm gonna have to say in order for this poll to be accurate, you have to include one Marshall Faulk. Maybe the most dynamic player to ever play the RB position. I think Barry Sanders is by far the best of all time, but you gotta have Marshall Faulk in this discussion.

No one, gave their all like Payton. Sanders, may be the best at alluding and creating. Jim Brown, was hard nosed and had a much shorter career than many. O.J., Dickerson, Sayers and Smith, were all equally great runners. Campbell, was straight ahead and would punish you.

Not sure of catches by the group but given a choice, Payton would be mine. Great question by the way and not sure, if it can be answered.

Barry Sanders gets my vote. He never got to play with a great team...never with a really good QB...I've never seen another RB with the ability to start, stop and cut like Sanders had.

I wholeheartedly concur.:ylsuper:

Barry Sanders was by far the most talented. Sweetness was inspirational and awesome to watch. I'd say those are the top 2 and in that order.

Willie Parker should not be in the Poll. Brian Westbrook deserves to be considered one of the top backs ever. However he's not a flashy media guy so he doesn't get much love outside of the city of brotherly love. Also as someone else had said earlier. Marshall Faulk should likely also be mentioned. I don't think that either of these guys are the best, but they're definitely top 10, maybe top 5.
