I would give the award to Tebow. He is the best player in the country. The award is suppose to go to the best player, not the player that was the most valuable to their team or the one with the best stats. Tebow is the best college football player in the country IMO. He has done everything this season playing in the best confrence against teams that play alot of defense. Tebow set the bar so high last year people think he didn't have as good of a year, but any time you are a 1 loss QB of a SEC team playing for the national championship then you have done everything right.

It's not just about numbers. The Heisman is supposed to be given to the best player in the country. That is 100% without a shadow of a doubt Tim Tebow. Dolamite pretty much already explained why Tebow should win it.

All he said was Tebow is the best player on ONE OF the best teams in the country. Congratulations, so is Colt McCoy, so is Sam Bradford.

Tebow is the right choice for a number of reasons:

 

1) As the defending Heisman winner, people center their gameplans around him, and while his numbers are down a bit from last year, his team is doing better, and he still has unreal numbers.

 

2) He is the best leader in college football. The passion he plays with, and his refusal to let his team lose is second to none. After the Ole Miss game he went on national TV and told the world they wouldn't lose again, he'd make sure of it. They not only haven't lost again, they've been absolutely killing everyone that's come in their path.

 

3) His numbers aren't as great as McCoy or Bradford's, can't deny that. Since the loss to Ole Miss, only the Florida game did Tebow see significant action or play a big role in the 2nd half. They've destroyed everyone so bad that he doesn't need to be a factor after halftime.

 

4) Whether it should factor into it or not, his off-field great guy image will, and IMO should, factor into it. He is the perfect representation of a college athlete.

The Heisman is for the best player in college football and obviously the best player in college football is Tim Tebow. However, to win the Heisman usually takes being the best player on one of the best teams, so in this case Tebow has double the case to win and double the case to feel shafted if he does not win. Furthermore, based on Urban Meyers system, and Tebow's style of play, he may also ironically end up on the list of Heisman winners who did not pan out in the NFL. I hope not because Tim is such a great football player, but if he were to make an impact at the next level I would have to think it would be at a position other than QB.

 

Probably safety or linebacker something like John Lynch.

Tim Tebow doesn't deserve to win the Heisman, in no way. He is a great player yes, but look at his numbers compared to the other guys. How does Tebow get in over Harrell? The Heisman has nothing to do with taking your team to the NC game, if it did it would be a pointless award. What if a team like Colorado went 12-0 this year, and their best offensive player was a running back who rushed for 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns, and a QB who threw for 2,200 yards and 20 TD's? I mean come on.

 

Bradford should win it, and no doubt about it. His numbers are sick..

I'm not going to repeat all of the arguments I made in the Florida/Bama result thread, except to reiterate that Bradford, McCoy, and Harrell are great quarterbacks and Shonn Green is a great running back, but Tim Tebow is a great football player. He's the best football player in the country and should receive the award for the best player in college football, the Heisman.

 

There. Now I have to go throw up and take Benedyl for the hives generated for backing a Gator.

In actuality, Harrell put up better numbers than all 3 of the others.
