From the talk from players in general the slow start was the result of several factors. One, lack of conditioning, Two, the coaching staff not being able to put the right combination of players together, and several other "issues". As for those who quit...there was a variety...but by 1/2 way thru season they had lost 12 players per another parent's count. How much those contributed I'm not sure but I do know that as players quit it made the coaching staff have to regroup & shift players around some. Displeasure w/coaching decisions, and the early losses was the main factor in the exiting of so many.

Going got tough and they quit. I would guess the team doesn't need people with that attitude. I hope my child never comes to me and says this is their solution. oh well. So playing 3 teams good enough to make the State finals with a very young team had nothing to do with loosing the 1st 4 games fair enough.

 

Coaching High school kids is about a lot more then winning. Besides the coach at Dixie has done plenty of winning. I know Highlands fans will bash this comment but I respect what Tom has done at Dixie, and for years he was one of the only coaches in NKY to challenge his team by playing Highlands when he didn't have to.

Open enrollment for some reason only hurts Scott in the football program. I guess more kids seem to be only worried about football more than the rest of the sports. Scott is just as good and even better in all the other sports except football.

 

Scott will be fine with open enrollment especially after they get their sports complex which really should be a nice one. Scott definately has more land than the other 2 high schools to do more with. Simon and Dixie are so land locked.

Simon still has a lot of land? Not sure if it is as much as Scott, but they have land to work with.

Scott is the only school in NKY that hurts with this in football. Because of Scotts past in football they DO NOT get kids to come and play football. This has hurt them so bad look at Gregg Preston Joey Bricking Stephen Benson Josh Bleser (CCH i guess that woulnt count) but these three players were great at Dixie and they should have all gone to Scott. So you cant tell me that the open enrollment hasn't hurt Scott.

 

Scott isn't the only school.... Many great players don't go to Lloyd that live in Erlanger or Elsmere. They go to Beechwood, Dixie, or even St.Henry's (for basketball). Open enrollment hurts Lloyd just as much.

I thought Lloyd was an Erlanger Independent District like Beechwood (Ft. Mitchell Independent) and Highlands (Ft. Thomas Independent). If guys are going to Kenton County Schools or other Independents that should be going to LLoyd, they must be paying tuition. Open enrollment only affects Kenton County District schools.

I wonder since they are still in the county, the independent districts students, and pay the same county taxes, that is how they can attend Dixie, Scott, and SK without paying tuition?

Lloyd players leaving for other programs is a very recent happening. Lloyd needs to get some things fixed at the top or this will continue. And yes Lloyd is an independent district so players going to other schools have to pay tuition.

It doesn't just happen. Someone at Scott has to make it happen. Taylor Mill has grown a lot over the past 10-15 years. Start your own NKYFL organization and watch what happens in about 4 years. People thought South Kenton was crazy starting their organization and look at them now. If not that, then get into the middle school football league that has taken off the past few years. That is the only way it is going to happen at Scott.

 

Starting your own NKYFL organization, that's not going to happen the South Kenton Nittany Lions and Raiders control the boundries around taylor Mill and neither will give up any territory!This has been tried several times over the past 10 years to no avail.

Are you sure? I know they are an independent but don't they pay the same taxes as the county kids? It would seem strange that you would have to pay taxes and tuition.

Yes it is true. Scott, SK and Dixe each have a district boundary. There are reciprocal agreements between those three schools when a student chooses to go to a KC school other than the one that is assigned to them based on where they live. That is why there is an application process you must go thru in order to attend a different KC school. As far as "having to pay taxes and tuition", I'm pretty sure private school parents do.

My son was supposed to go to Lloyd and we chose to go to Dixie and only had to pay half the tuition and Erlanger-Elsmere school district paid the other half of the tuition. We have since moved out of that school district.
