I know the JCPS website says this but I'm fairly certain that I have heard of students from outside Jefferson County in Manual.
December 16, 200817 yr I just called the school and asked. I have a buddy who teaches/coaches football at Manual but thought I'd directly call. I asked about across the river she replied "Jefferson County only." Maybe they moved during the four years they were there or maybe they used to allow it. I have a 6th grader that might want to try and he might have trouble getting in, there are a lot of kids wanting in. My brother-Law coaches at Eastern...I'll ask him. They have a lot of students but only about 55 on the varsity football team.
December 17, 200817 yr And it's not in Kentucky!!!! I am at Ft. Campbell right now and if I am not in Kentucky, please tell me where the heck I am!!!
December 19, 200817 yr I am at Ft. Campbell right now and if I am not in Kentucky, please tell me where the heck I am!!! At least you are not currently in Iraq or Afghanistan. That is where people from Fort Campbell spend a lot of time living, calling to, and/or sending packages to. I was in the FTCKY Post Office today and the line was out the door with folks shipping to places all needing Custom labels. On the note of public or private. FCHS just happens to be the area school that those living in this area go to. They don't have a school of choice nor did they pick the school out of the blue to go to. So in that since, not really a private school. Also no one pays to attend either. Government pays for the education here! It is the neighborhood that is restrictive, not the school. The school is open to all kids who live only in the Fort Campbell neighborhoods. And I don't even want to go into the idea that the Army controls who they send to FTCKY...because that is just dumb...no one really controls where their next duty station is. The mission of the Army is much greater than High School football, even though we would all like to think that high school football is as important, really not, in the scheme of things! Think about it!!!
December 20, 200817 yr And it's not in Kentucky!!!! Where is it? Just curious as to where YOU think Fort Campbell, Kentucky is located. I don't consider Fort Campbell a "private" school, regardless of the Encarta dictionary definition. I don't pay a tuition for my son to attend the school, I pay a price. Fort Campbell Football, with all it's success gets minimal funding compared to tuition based "private" schools. We don't have an indoor training facility (if they want to practice indoors they have to ask to use an aircraft hanger), we don't have a field house, we don't even have the luxury of having a stadium that's within 'team walking distance' from the school. I could go on and on......but I won't. Regardless of all this, Fort Campbell is once again on top of the 2A class of Kentucky football. Later.

Practice indoors you got to be kidding . They practice on the old ball field next to the school . At least you have an Aircraft hanger .We play at Newport High School's Stadium , and have for at least 50 years . Don't listen to so much public school propaganda about Parochial schools The main thing that we lacked last Saturday in comparision to Ft Campbell was an Antonio Andrews .:thumb:
December 22, 200817 yr In order to attend Dupont Manual you MUST live in Jefferson County. No other county is allowed. I know at Male we had one kid on our football team who lived in Oldham County and I believe he had moved during a school year. AL I would add that I went to school at Manual late 90's with some out of county students, so it has not always been the case, therefore the confusion may be on the fact that they used to do it.
December 23, 200817 yr I believe you are right. I'm just going by what the lady on the phone told me and I repeated the question to her. And I'll find out after school is back in session about Butler/Male.
December 23, 200817 yr I am at Ft. Campbell right now and if I am not in Kentucky, please tell me where the heck I am!!! Most of the post lies in Tennessee...but for mailing and residency purposes I think the entire post is considered Kentucky.

According to their website, Manual accepts applicants who are Jefferson County residents. Maybe you can move once your accepted. According to one of the young ladies who cheers when she appeared on the early morning TV news back before the Male/Manual game. She said the lived in Oldham County.
December 24, 200817 yr ^^^I agree. I can't see them kicking out a student because they moved to another county. I didn't ask, but the key is getting in, once you are in you stay.

Sounds good to me. I believe it's state dollars that follow each student. I don't know how West Virginia, Illinois, or Missouri address this issue with Kentucky. Maybe they allow Kentuckians to attend their schools as well. Anyone?
February 17, 200917 yr Author Any chance you can research this for KY, OH, and IN for the last three years? I believe OH had a year a couple of years ago where five out of the six winners were public schools. Ohio: '08 4/6; '07 2/6; '06 1/6; '05 3/6 10 out of 24 private champs past 4 years Ind:'08 3/5; '07 2/5; '06 2/5; '05 0/5 7 out of 20 private champs past 4 years Ky: '08 1/6; '07 2/6; '06 3/4; '05 3/4 9 out of 20 private champs past 4 years Past state champs for 20+ years are available under football results at www.ohssa.org www.ihsaa.org www.khsaa.org Many repeat trips to finals and many repeat champions from class to class. The more successful programs are usually in the hunt every season.
