In 1974, the schools outside Jefferson County pushed the KHSAA for the ability to play against Jefferson County's Champion for the title in the highest class. This came about in 1975. As you accurately state, only Shelby County, Christian County(2), Henry Clay, Nelson County and Clark County have brought home the to prize. It's 6 out of 33 (18%) for non-Jefferson County since their addition to the top class.
