December 2, 200817 yr This was the main reason I was very glad to see the Reds move him. You offer him arbitration, and there is a very real chance he takes it because that $100 million deal isn't out there. Jockety hit one out of the park with the move and all it avoided... Well, I guess I'm going to have reluctantly agree:D
December 2, 200817 yr If that is the case, the Reds should make a push for him. Wouldn't $6 million per year be a pay cut for Dunner? I think it is interesting that so many people thought Ryan Howard was the MVP, yet Dunn doesn't garner much interest on the open market. They're very similar players. The biggest difference is that Howard plays on a much better team and is surrounded by talent. Howard smoked Dunn statistically in 08. What I like to look at in this case is how well they hit LHers. Dunn .190. Howard .224
December 2, 200817 yr So, the 2 superstars we started last season with in the middle of our lineup are looking for work. Hmmmm.
December 2, 200817 yr He was paid like one. Injuries took their tole on him.... And Dunn never was:lol: True...
December 2, 200817 yr Howard smoked Dunn statistically in 08. What I like to look at in this case is how well they hit LHers. Dunn .190. Howard .224 So neither one can hit lefties. What's your point?
December 3, 200817 yr The Diamondbacks could still sign Dunn, right? If there is a lukewarm market for him, he could be re-signed for a lesser figure than he would have gotten in arbitration.
December 3, 200817 yr So neither one can hit lefties. What's your point? Yeah .34 difference is nothin:rolleyes: Let's take another: RISP Howard-.320 Dunn-.240 And the beat goes on...
December 3, 200817 yr The Diamondbacks could still sign Dunn, right? If there is a lukewarm market for him, he could be re-signed for a lesser figure than he would have gotten in arbitration. Why would they? What was their record pre Dunn compared to post Dunn?
December 3, 200817 yr Why would they? What was their record pre Dunn compared to post Dunn? I'll try to find it, but I don't think there was a drop-off with Dunn. But, more importantly, he did not give the boost that they expected to get from him to carry them to a Division title.
