That alone was worth the trade. Add the fact that we're cutting down costs, and this is one of the best trades for the Reds in recent memory. The real question is whether or not the Reds have any interest in re-signing Dunn? Personally, I think he'll go to a big market AL team. That type of power is deadly if he is surrounded by capable bats.
December 2, 200817 yr This is actually pretty good for Dunn. Now teams don't have to give up a 1st round pick for signing him. My guess is he will end up with a 3/$27M to $36M contract .

Wouldn't $6 million per year be a pay cut for Dunner? I think it is interesting that so many people thought Ryan Howard was the MVP, yet Dunn doesn't garner much interest on the open market. They're very similar players. The biggest difference is that Howard plays on a much better team and is surrounded by talent.
