Overall, I think the combination of OBP and SLG is a great indicator of one's ability to contribute offensively to winning games. You can't compare a BA of .320 vs .240 and a RISP of .320 vs .240. Mathematically, with the RISP ABs being a relatively small number , it doesn't take many hits to dramatically increase the RISP like it would for BA.

OPS is a relatively new stat and I could see an argument being made for that; however, I think OBP is a much more important stat. Furthermore, a home run hitter with a low batting average (such as Dunn & Howard) can have a skewed OPS, since they hit so many home runs compared to base hits.
