Highlands' Kody Rosenhagen

From nky.com:

A foot up on competition:

You've seen the guy before. The lineman in a small high school football program who has been saddled with the kicking duties. He's a big body with a big foot. Why not?

You've seen him line up for an extra point - his team doesn't attempt field goals - directly behind the ball, then take a few little baby stutter steps before toe-bashing the ball just barely over or under the cross bar.

Kody Rosenhagen is not that guy.

If you think the Bluebirds' kicker resembles an all-state caliber defensive lineman, that's because he is. But he's even more than that. Rosenhagen, a senior, has played multiple roles in the Bluebirds' advancement to the state semifinals. And when the defending state champion plays at Whitley County on Friday night with a trip to the state finals at stake, expect to see No. 75 make an impact in all three phases of the game.

Last week, in a 35-21 win over Johnson Central, it was Rosenhagen who made the game's biggest play......

I can't even imagine what opposing players are thinking when they see Big Kody teeing it up. I know a few of them have to be hoping he booms it in the end zone.

Good to see him getting his due.

Kody (with a big K !) is a really good athlete and an even better kid...........glad to see some ink finally come his way....... good job Kody bear!

Sorry I misspelled your name KODY. We love the way you cick the ball.:D:dancingpa

These type of 'kids' rarely get the credit they deserve. Its very nice to see an article like this that highlights not only the fact that he can scorch the ball, but the fact that he is a stud athlete. Great job Kody!

I've seen a few try to challenge him on the first kickoff of the game. Those same player's on the next kickoff don't seem to have the same attitude to block him.:scared:

I pity the fool that try to block Kody on a kickoff.

In all seriousness though, Kody is a tremendous asset to that team. His ability to put the ball in the end zone on kickoffs really helps the defense out tremendously and allows the DC to be more aggressive with his schemes and play-calling after a score.

Ask the kid from Ashland about that. He got to experience an onside kick in the front line and unfortunately he was literally crushed. I am glad that boy is doing better but it was scary at first. In fact I think he lives for onside kicks because on regular kickoffs Dale wants him hanging back playing safety and he HATES it from what I hear.

Numerous times this year I have watched kickoffs where teams have a player that just loves drilling the opposing team's kicker, usually a smaller guy. I bet those players who get off on taking that shot at the kicker approach hitting Kody a little differently.

The Scott game. Two players tried taking him out. The next several kickoff's were quite eventful.:flame:
