mcpapa you have too much time on your hands.

I am having a hard time seeing a tiger beating a rocket. Maybe its a bottle rocket?

Thanks Papa very entertaining.

If you want to see some classic high school mascots check out this site:

http://www.tekonsha.k12.mi.us/scaa/teamnames.htm

Scroll down, they have some of the best from each state.

I am partial to the

Holbrook Arizona - Roadrunners

There is also:

Laurel Hill Florida - Hoboes

Cairo Georgia - Syrupmakers

Clark Fork Idaho - Wampus Cats

Centralia Illinois - Orphans / Orphan Annies

Freeburg Illinois - Midgets

And if a Bluebird isn't tough, then how about the:

Fisher Illinois - Bunnies

Heck, the Bluebirds don't even make the list for KY but the Big Trains and Briar Jumpers do.

Silver Grove - Big Trains

Somerset - Briar Jumpers

The best may be the

Watersmeet Michigan - Nimrods

I used mcpapa's Assumptions:D

Edited by Watusi

So then if the Highlands Blue Devils ever consolidated with the Dayton Green Devils would they then become the Purple Devils?:D

No wait, thats red and blue make purple. What does blue and green make?

I think it's aqua.:D

Well, first of all, a tiger could never stand a direct hit from a rocket. Here are some rules I thought of. Feel free to add to them.

1.) Anything that would have a firearm (pirate, pioneer, etc.) trumps a wild or domestic animal. In an instance where a pioneer may face said pirate, pirate wins due to total lack of consience in the matter of bloodletting of a fellow human. Human on human is case by case. (i.e. an ENGINEER vs. a BRAVE is no contest.)

2.)Everything trumps vegetation, unless therare poisionous asspects to said vegetation.

3.) Animal mascots, wild and domestic, have to have the aspects of strength, defense or speed looked at. (i.e. yes, a Thoroughbred will out run a Redhound, but a Wildcat of any kind can usually handle an insect or bulldog in nature.)

4.) Insects are hard pressed to find a way to take most mascots. Malarial Flies can take many mammals, and Yellowjackets can if the mammal has an allergic reaction. Case by case here, also.

5.) Birds have an edge if they are hunters. Exceptions can be made. Bluebirds have been known to make other mascots choke.

6.) Origins of any non-tangible mascot (Purples, Lakers, etc.) must have origins examined before decisions are made.

7.) A mechanical type mascot (Rocket, Cyborg, Chatty Kathy Dolls, etc.) must be examined. Is the Rocket atomic or one of those water filled things we used to use in the back yard and shoot onto the neighbor's roof?

8.) Any mascot that has a weakness in name can be freely attacked. Nimrods or Bed Wetters come to mind.

What other rules fit?

I don't know, the Highlands BlueDevils would be a pretty good fight!!!!:fight:::p Nobody said anything about past Mascots.
That's a true (but obscure) fact! :thumb:
Maybe we should be the Fort Thomas Cannons.
Ya know....hmm...

Origin of Nickname

Watersmeet School began using the nickname the "Nimrod" in the year of 1904.

By Biblical Accounts, Nimrod was "a mighty hunter before the Lord." According to the Old Testament, he established a great kingdom and founded a number of important Babylonian and Assyrian cities. Watersmeet, situated in the heart of the Upper Peninsula Ottawa National Forest, adopted the name because the forest is prime hunting land for waterfowl, deer, and bear.
