Favorite Gym in your Region

Featured Replies

Everyone I have talked to loved Gallatin's gym. :ylsuper:

I'd have to agree the place is quite nice. It just came 20 years too late. :D

Centeral Hardin has one of the better gyms in the 5th region.

Yeah, CH has a very nice gym with very good lighting.

7th Region - Anyone have any update on the new gym under construction at St. X? When will it be finished? The exterior looks great!

13th

Corbin- Nice, clean, and good view lines

South Laurel- Shows the tradition with photos, banners, etc.

North Laure- Is huge but it's hard to see from the upper deck

Clay and Bell also have some very nice gyms.

I've heard Harlan County's gym is phenomenal and can't wait to see that.

Two other gyms that I always liked were Evarts and Cumberland. Both are very small and not very accomodating but you could get the high school game feel. I always liked Cumberland's little cracker box with the lockerooms down in the holes at mid court and the big Indian on the wall.

In the 8th I loved playing at HC when the stands were packed, which happened quite a bit for us. I also enjoy South Oldham, Gallating Co. (though I hated there rims), Owen Co. (Also, hated there rims), and I also like Andersons.

I'll have to agree with PK, Polar Bear 1994 and AHS Panther 23 nothing like a good ol' Augusta vs. Bracken County game. It's not only a great atmosphere for the players but also the fans it brings back memories of their playing days. This not only happens here, but also in gymnasiums across the state. The Panther Den in Augusta is by far the best for it though.

That was a typo! I meant to say that I haven't been to Somerset since they remodeled.

You'll have to check out McCreary's this year. They renovated. The floor is super nice with the new graphics. Completely new lower bowl seating that spell MCHS when closed. I will attempt to get pictures.

13th

Harlan County

South Laurel

Corbin

Middlesboro

Clay County

14th

Perry Central

Knott Central

Letcher Central

Powell County

Breathitt County

Gotta add Hazard up there above all those, no way PCC is any better. Knott Central the big scoreboard in the middle hangs down way to low and is to hard to see from the court. But Breathitt does have a nice one:thumb:

I've been to most in the 11th and Scott County has the best I've seen.

Scott's is very nice:thumb::thumb:

I'm a homer, but get an Augusta-Bracken matchup at the Panther's Den and you will see what I mean by old school basketball.

Add to that a three dollar ticket ( cheapest admission in the tenth region ) and a great concession area. If you are a fan and have not taken in a game in person at the den, do yourself a huge favor. Head to Augusta for the Panther/Polar bear matchup. You will N O T be dissappointed.

In the 13th, IMHO, Knox Central is the nicest gym. I wish it was bigger, but it is super nice.

As a player I always liked shooting at Trimble with the soft rims and the dimmed lights that everyone else complained about. However, as a spectator, I have really enjoyed going to Williamstown to watch a game-even though the team didn't really put up the numbers- mostly for the band. But if you can manage to get a seat for a Williamstown/Grant Co. game, thats a fun place to watch some hoops.

I like the Robey Dome at Marion Co. Somerset has nice gym as does Pulaski Co. Marion is not in my region, but I really like their gym.

I liked the old gym better. It's a nice school, but for a new gym it's too small.
