Favorite Gym in your Region

That was a typo! I meant to say that I haven't been to Somerset since they remodeled.

You actually typed it correct, I read it wrong. It looks a lot better now and more like it did until about 1980 when they put in the drop ceiling and hid the rafters. You can see all the way to the roof now and the stage has been replaced with chair back seats and it has a hall of fame with windows overlooking the court above it. When I get back in town I'll try to take some pictures and post them.

Greenup has a nice gym.

First of all, welcome to BGP's, tender foot.:thumb: Yes, Greenup has a nice gym and a great atmosphere. They call it the "Greenhouse". Back in the day, the place was packed for every game and it was loud and was a definite advantage for the Musketeers. Hopefully, they will return to old form, SOON!

Great gym at raceland , Boyd Co. nice new floor .

As far as gyms go, Raceland has to be ranked up there if not the best in the region. The 16th Region has many nice facilities to play in. We are very fortunate.

Menifee Co has the best concession stand, they have it all. Racelands gym is fan friendly, now that they have restroom near.

We had to wait for indoor plumbing......:thumb:

Henry county's gym in my opinion is a great gym to play in. Not all the games were exciting but come regional tournament time that place gets packed, and its just a great atmosphere.

It does get packed in there, but a great place to play??? Lighting is terrible there! I disagree with it beng a great place to play...

I have enjoyed playing in The Fieldhouse in the 10th given this was my home region playing at Bourbon Co. I always enjoyed playing in Breathitt Co's gym In the 14th I have never been to Knott Central or Perry Central but have heard how nice they are though.

I recently heard that Heritage Academy remodeled their gym. They closed the upstairs and put a real wood floor down.

Thanks for the article! I might have to make my way down the double a to catch an Augusta game this year.

That gym brings back some good memories when I played and coached against Augusta there. They sure have improved that building since then.:ylsuper:

As I am only a few years from senior citizen age, I like the gyms that have plenty of chair back seats (save on the old aching back). Three come to my mind being Russell County, South Laurel, and Montgomery County's new gym. Sure there are plenty of others just can't think of them!!!

I am already a senior citizen, and I agree the chair backs sure do help. I also like some leg room. I sat on the front row at Montgomery Co during the district tournament last year and had chair back and plenty of leg room. That was nice.

My husband and son need the leg room. I agree the seats at Montgomery Co had plenty.:thumb:

I believe so far Augusta's gym is the oldest in the state.
