Do you know the default IP address of your modem? The default IP address of a Belkin is 192.168.2.1 and it's possible that your modem and router have the same IP address, therefore blocking the sync from passing through. If that's what it is, it's a pretty easy fix.

Sounds like the computer to access the wireless may be looking for the old SSID. Try having the computer search for wireless networks within range. Also, I am assuming the wireless connection is for a laptop. Many laptop have a mechanism to turn the wireless on/off. Check to make certain that yours is turned on. If that does not work for you, PM me with your contact information and I will try to help you over the phone.

 

I didn't realize that it was working when wired. I agree with you - probably need to "View Available Wireless Networks" and reconnect to the new router.

The only other thing I've run into is with Brighthouse Networks (Cable) and having to clone at least one local MAC address to the router. Don't know whether that would apply here or not, but I've never had to set up a Belkin, so I don't know how to do that on that brand of router.

 

BTW - I just got FIOS a couple of weeks ago and we be smokin' now. :thumb:

Never have tried Belkin. The Linksys and Netgear routers and access points I've installed, some more than 5 years ago, still work and work great.

I've always had great success with Linksys.

I didn't have to do that with the last one...

When I first got a new one it was running slow and I called insight to ask them about it and they said any kind of new internet equipment like that needs to be registered with them for whatever reason and it will run better.

OK, forgive me if this all sounds basic, but I'm not super familiar with Belkin routers and I'll treat it like it's a Netgear (terrible brand BTW). Also don't think I'm talking down or anything, just covering the basics.

 

1) You say you've run the disk. Do you have to be plugged directly into the cable modem first? Typically when I'm dealing with routers that set up with discs, you have to be connected directly in.

 

2) It will usually then ask you to hook the cable modem into the WAN port of the router, and then the laptop/computer into the modem. You should be able to connect wirelessly later, but for now you'll probably jack in.

 

3) Somewhere in this process you'll give it the SSID. Name it something differently than the old one.

 

4) See if you can connect wirelessly.

 

And if all that fails.... take it back and get a Linksys.

My linksys is slow. But it works.
