Yeah, with six classes, three teams per district would be more than enough. There are some occasional giant killer 4's, but the 0-fer teams really bother me also.

 

Totally agree, I counted 46 games with lopsided scores of 35 points or more. The buy week and the first round of the playoffs need to be eliminated. Finals need to be the weekend of Thanksgiving, like it used to be.

I agree.....Count me as Dislike. Take top 2 out of the district, eliminate the bye week and go back to Thanksgiving week for the State Championships.

With the current 6 class system, I would limit the number of playoff entrants. The top two in each district is plenty. The playoffs are no longer a reward for a great season. By allowing winless (and some could even argue sub-.500) teams to make it we've seriously watered down the first round. It's not necessary for everyone to make the playoffs.

I really do like that they did away with distict on district the first weeks, though.

Dislike it. Too many teams qualify. Too much traveling in the first round.

I personally like the idea of the cross district match ups. That's the way it should be. If you are going to make it to the second round, you should have to play a team you haven't met yet rather than one you had just played a few weeks prior.

 

As far as the number of teams in the playoffs, I like the idea of the top 3 teams from each district making the playoffs. Give the #1 seed a bye in the first round for having a great season and let the #2 and #3 go at it.

 

A downfall to doing that though is then you wouldn't have a team like SK, who was a #4 seed but clearly far superior to #1 seed Lafayette, in the playoffs. It's usually in the smaller classes that produce the blow out 1-4 match ups. Which just goes to show again that 6 classes are too many. Go back to the 4 class system or even 5 and let the teams go at it.

Someone needs to study a 5 class scenario. Leave 6A alone. Compress the other 5 classes into 4. Keep the playoff format the same. My guess is that would minimize the 0-10 and 1-9 teams getting into the playoffs but give deep in quality districts the playoff slots their teams deserve.

I'm with Rebel an NKU20, take less teams into the playoffs and make it four total games instead of five. I hate having 6 classes to begin with, something needs to be done because having 0-fers in the playoffs is totally insane. My question is, is that how can KY have a 6 class system when much bigger states like OH only have a 4 class system. My point is that there are more high schools in Cleveland and Cincy combined than there are in all of KY! Theres something wrong there in a big way!

My question is why has the playoff system changed over time and even the classifications? My guess is that to many people complained about the current system whatever it was at the time. I just think people like to complain in general! It seems to be an innate quality that us humans have. It has been my experience that you should be carefull of what you want changed because what you get in its place may be much worse! Just a thought!

Agree house of pain. Leave it alone as far as the classes are concerned with. Maybe the number of teams that qualify.
