Just on BGP, read the comments about Pelosi and Clinton's looks. At one point, not a mention of Pelosi's positions or comments would be made without a reference to here apparent unattractiveness. Then, there was a thread to talk about attractive Republican women. I'm sure many of you will eschew this. But, it is sexism.

I don't think it was sexism. I think they just didn't like her. It's a fine line.

A close review of reality indicates to me that racism is used by both Caucasians and non-Caucasians at a similar pace. Obama and his supporters used it quite effectively in the recently completed election by inferring that any attack against Obama was racism. It worked. Yosemite Sam was completely intimidated. All he could do was give that silly grin and say, "My friends".

There are no telling the amount of death threats our Presidents receive. Death threats are nothing new to the White House. Now these may be a little different considering the racial component, but threatening the life of a President I am sure is a frequent occurence.

RTS and I discussed this earlier. The things that are being said to Obama are horrible. The things that were said to Palin were horrible as well. My biggest concern is that we have not came that far from our past. It happens all the time. Someone said something about Judo-Christian's having horrible things said about them. But what about anyone that practices other types of religions, they get hammered. It is all across the board. People talk about the Hispanics like they are 3rd world. I don't agree with illegal immigrants but they are human beings just like me. These things make me sick to my stomach. It is everywhere and I think getting worse instead of better.

Can I assume that all of you who are so shocked were equally shocked by the attacks on Sarah Palin merely because she had the audacity to be a strong woman with strong Judeo-Christian beliefs?

 

We have plenty of racism, sexism, anti-Christian beliefs, etc. That is not going to change.

 

All who enter the political arena, including Obama, must accept what we call "assumption of the risk". Than is reality. And, in fact, he has a long way to go before he is abused and threatened remotely as much as has been directed at Bush. In a "diversified" society, it goes with the territory.
