I must say it was nice to see nky 6A finally have a little success.

 

I'd say after tomorrow nky 2A should also have 3 teams alive.

Thanks for the kudos Eta, seems like 6A is the stepchild in NKY football. I can't say that it isn't deserved but it's nice to see the big boys going 3-1.

There are 3 legit State finalists in that group, with Boone having the chance to be a fourth

NKY football has to be as bad as we have seen it in quite some time.

 

I am not sure the numbers would bear out what I just said, but I believe firmly that NKY is way down this year in terms of quality.

Fishhead has it right except for Simon Kenton. I would not call it a big surprise. Simon Kenton was supposed to battle Boone for the top team in N. Ky. in 6A and underperformed most of the season. It looks like they finally got it together last night. Outside of the Highlands scare, Bellevue is the biggest surprise on the list. Ludlow and Ryle mild surprises. Everything else was as expected.

SK has the make-up to beat almost anyone in 6A this year. They are young at some key positions. I think this was a big win, but not that surprising.

Why does everyone think Ludlow winning is a HUGE surprise? I thought it would be a good game, which it was, but am not surprised to see Ludlow win. I honestly believe the game wouldn't have been close had Ludlow been at full strength.

You are right, Ludlow is a very solid team with a very nice runner.

Conner beating a team that was 2-8 shouldn't be a surprise, not even a "mild surprise" to anyone. The Cougars have proven this year to be very solid.

Ludlow shouldn't be a surprise. Not to bash Eminence, but they only played two teams with winning records and were outscored 85-6 in those two games. 3 of their opponents were winless.

With Cov Cath and Holy Cross both winning today, NKY's first round record jumps to 10-6.

Yeah that is what I was trying to say in the prediction thread. I had people get all over me for saying, that actually even though Eminence was a 2 seed, and Ludlow was the 3 seed. That is was actually a step down in competition to what Ludlow had been seeing this year. That is why I was pretty confident in Ludlow winning. It honestly shouldn't be that big of a surprise at all.

True. This was the only one I'd change or chalk up to the extremely early hour. SK was a little iffy in my mind because of the past playoff history, and I just didn't know much about the Eminence/Ludlow matchup. I thought home field advantage would mean something in these games, especially with Lafayette playing the potential final game in their stadium. To sum up, John Mellencamp said it best when he said "I'm uneducated, my opinion means NUTTIN'!"
