A discussion on the deaths of young people in Chicago would seem to fit better on the general discussion board, but since this is PandR the men and women dying in Iraq are doing so as part of a POLICY put forth by the pres. and now opposed by most people in the US.

A lot of the Iraqi people do not want us there any more. And in some places there, it's worse now than it was before the war. It's time to leave IMO.

Well then if you want to really break it down, when was the last time Chicago was declared a war zone? Come on!

 

It's apples and oranges, but regardless it US lives and I think that's what HHS is getting at. When a VERY VERY large # of these soldiers come home from Iraq they're doctors, firemen, accountants, construction workers, basically when they aren't doing their duties over seas(which they knowingly signed up for;they were not drafted), then they are just the same as those lives lost in Chicago.

We're not talking accidents, even though some of those deaths in Iraq are accidents. We're talking about young men and women volunteering to go to another country as soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen. This is what you and others are condemning.

 

 

I'm not condemning anyone's decision to serve their country. I'm condemning the poorly-conceived mission they have been sent to perform as a waste of lives and resources. Big difference.

 

 

 

My question is why are you more concerned about these than the ones that are gunned down in our major cities every day? I can't recall a single thread about the thousands of senseless murders in our country everyday, but there are plenty of opinions about what our young people choose to do.
