A-11 Highlights

Nice post TBG, thanks. Nice for everyone who wondered what the A-11 looked like.:thumb:

Congrats to little old Trimble County on getting some national pub.:dancingpa

The Riverside Illinois QB in clip (7) had 7 seconds to find an open receiver, looked like backyard football. One very interesting offense, isn't the Piedmont, CA coach the originator?

Doesn't this offense make the most sense if you have 11 really good skill guys but no big/strong/lineman types?

Yes

Yes, pretty much so. Trimble team averages 5'6 151 Lb. They have 3 guys over 200 Lb. and one of them is the QB.

I am sorry, but this offsense isn't that hard to defend. It is a matter of knowing who can catch a pass before the snap. Any offense with good kids will work. But this offense isn't worth a dime when it comes down to trying to beat someone who is a little bit better than your team.

I am sure plenty of coaches spend to much time on how to stop the offense, Instead put the pressure on the offense to try and blcok the defense. Play zone coverage, there is only one ball and they can only throw it to one guy at a time. Put pressure on the QB and he runs for his life.

I like coach Poynter and I think he has done a good job at Trimble. I understand why he ran the scheme.

Agree totally. You would not want to play man against it. I don't see how it could be that effective against good discipline teams.

Very true. The A-11 is an interesting, fun to watch offense, and is capable of big plays. But I've seen teams run a variation of this before, and it's value really comes when used as a "change of pace" formation, not as an "every down" offense. Spring it two or three times in a game, and it can be very productive... But Coach Poynter was somewhat up a creek this year in terms of the physical size / speed of the players he has. This offense gave them a chance to be successful against much bigger teams...and the kids are probably having a blast running it...

The A-11 teams in the videos were helped considerably by playing teams that can't tackle.
