:thumb: He's not the greatest, but definitely the most underrated actor of this generation. He often gets written off as just a Hollywood pretty boy and that's simply not true. He's a very, very talented actor.

Yeah, I have to agree, although I never imagined I'd be saying so when he first came along.

I used to not be able to stand him. I also think I might be the only person in the country who hasn't seen Titanic .

Body of Lies

Blood Diamond

The Departed

Gangs of New York

Catch Me If You Can

He was excellent in all of these. Personally, I can't wait for Shutter Island to come out.

I don't know how those crusty old farts could be considered "this generation," outlawcoach. :D

Don Cheadle is my pick. He's freakin' amazing.

You're right but I still like them because Im a crusty old fart myself. Hackman is my favorite because he is a leading man without leading man looks. Joe Pesci and Danny DeVito are cut of this mode also!:thumb:

Some of the names that have been mentioned I left off because I took them as from my generation, not THIS generation. Meaning those that are 40 years and younger or really came into their own over the last 10-15 years.

Mel Gibson

Kevin Costner

Tom Hanks

Morgan Freeman

Samuel Jackson

Bruce Willis

and similar great actors like these that have mentioned would be examples of ones that I felt was not of THIS generation.

Then I would see an even older generation that would have included

Paul Newman

Clint Eastwood

etc, etc

I like the bolded and Billy Bob Thorton.

Some of the actors on this list are horrible. Sure, they play in great movies and make a lot of money, but the title of the thread is this generations greatest actor. Tom Hanks is the most overrated actor of all time. If you want to see great actors, look at Daniel Day Lewis, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Chow.

How can you say Hanks is overrated? Have you seen Philadelphia?
