I'm doing just that by voting for McCain. :thumb:

I didn't know Harlem was one of McCain's platforms. :D

Then by your logic you're ignoring both.
Hardly, I've at least posted on the violence in this country and my support for the troops and The Surge shows I'm not ignoring them. But thanks for playing...
Because I'm tired of you guys ignoring the fact that we went in on what was bad Intel. A mistake, yes, but we were already there so now we have to clean it up. Both sides agreed to go and voted to do so. So by all means, continue with the ridiculous over-generalizations and convenient labeling in lieu of a substantive argument. ;)

And I am amazed that the number of innocent people murdered in this country are ignored by so many on this board because they can't attach Bush's name to it.

Where have I ignored facts? Where have I refused to acknowledge how many people have died in this country because I can't blame Bush? That's wishful thinking, RTS. That is a fantasy. I've credited Bush on this board for aiding Africans dying of famine and disease, did you factor that into your "Bush" argument? Not a prayer. Why? Because it's extremely convenient for Habib to be a delusional "Bush hater"/"liberal"/"Obama lemming"/whatever than someone with a valid argument. And I'm none of those, which makes this all the more absurd.

If I thought you were those things, I'd make no bones about it and tell you that, not only on here but to you face, that's how I am. You've brought up the death toll in Iraq on more than just this occasion if memory serves me, I don't recall hearing your concern of the death toll in this country due to violence. That's not fantasy or wishful thinking, that's just the way it is, Habib.

Who doesn't support the troops? Doesn't supporting the surge ignore the deaths of their civilians? The point is, someone not posting on a topic doesn't allow you to draw conclusions about their feelings on it. Your accusations towards Habib and I were uncalled for with no grounds for argument.

Wouldn't that be up to me to decide what I think is grounds for argument on a subject?
That's more than a stretch IMO. I think Obama would be a terrible choice, but the man is not going to try to buddy up with OBL.

You may very well be right and I sincerly hope that you are. I just don't trust anything about the man (Obama) and especially anything with him on foriegn policy or God for bid him over our Military.

Find where I've brought up the death toll. You can't do it. I've been plenty critical of this invasion and occupation for a plethora of reasons. Suggesting, wrongly, that my criticism is based on the death toll and further attempting to remove my standing to discuss the matter because I haven't made a sufficient number of posts lamenting death in this country is ridiculous. You're insulting me based on a self-created fantasy.

What was this?
And if I'm not mistaken troop deaths have well exceeded that total now. That's not including all casualties, either.[/Quote]

If you feel insulted by that then you're offended easier than I thought is all I can say to that.

Really? You think you can find one other post outside of this thread indicating that I ignore the deaths of anyone, including anything from the inner-city violence to disease and famine in Africa? Made my argument against the Iraq war based on death totals? Good luck.

I stand by my statement, I don't see you posting about the violence in Chicago, Detroit, Philly...

Hilarious. Did a quick search, couldn’t find anything and had to fall back on this thread when I corrected Henry on the death toll? I’ve never based my argument against the invasion on the death toll, no matter how regrettable it is. You’re the one throwing around the accusation that I don’t have standing to discuss the war because I don’t value all life. That is insulting and it is the entirety of your argument. And no, I’m not offended, but I will defend myself.

And what optional, not particularly well thought out, hasty governmental (foreign) policy action was pursued that has caused such high murder rates that I should be concerned with correcting?

Haha you're serious right.... Hasty, 9/11 was hasty, us going to the middle east was hasty. Like it or not we went to Iraq for one reason and this is likely how it'll be written in the history books, to make our presence known. For people in the middle east to recognize that we just don't say we're tough and you can't do such and such, but to show them. That's what just about EVERY American wanted at that time and point, BLOOD. They wanted us to show that even if we can't catch the bad guys responsible for the attacks we will start here(Iraq), and show them that we mean business by not just defeating them, but by winning the war. So meany Americans have forgotten that in their hearts at that time, that's what they wanted more than anything.

Honest question RTS, when was the last time you started a thread about the murder rate or deaths in the US? To accuse me of ignoring something because I don't post threads about it on BGP is ludicrous.

Understand that we all care about the number of military lives lost over the past few years, but buy pointing out, for only political reason's the lives lost in the war and not hear in the US does mean to an extent that there is a political agenda.

Then why don't you fight for ending the violence in Iraq and ending the violence in Harlem with the same passion you fight to ban abortion with?

These are two totally different things and you know it, to bring up such a topic in a situation such as this shows how desperate you are for answers. BTW, I'm pretty sure you just shamed just about every soldier that died in Iraq fighting for their freedom, but believing in pro life as well. Perhaps you think they should've fought harder for the unborn baby's instead...

But aren't all lives the same?
