October 29, 200817 yr That is equilivant to about 30 hours worth of abortions in this country. But the war is bad and abortions are a legal choice in this country. Not aimed at TBG. Just venting. Sad, but true...
October 29, 200817 yr And this is supposed to justify the invasion of Iraq? And if I'm not mistaken troop deaths have well exceeded that total now. That's not including all casualties, either. Over 4,000 US military casualties in Iraq, though Iraq was not responsible for 9/11.Why is it I never hear you guys talk about the number of people murdered in American cities (like Chicago) every day, every month, every year? They're much greater numbers than that in Iraq.
October 29, 200817 yr Why is it I never hear you guys talk about the number of people murdered in American cities (like Chicago) every day, every month, every year? They're many more than that in Iraq. And what optional, not particularly well thought out, hasty governmental (foreign) policy action was pursued that has caused such high murder rates that I should be concerned with correcting?
October 29, 200817 yr And what optional, not particularly well thought out, hasty governmental (foreign) policy action was pursued that has caused such high murder rates that I should be concerned with correcting? Does it really matter? I mean American citizens are dying at alarmingly high rates in cities such as Chicago. Many of which are innocent victims. Whether they're military deaths in Iraq, or an innocent women in Harlem, aren't they of the same value?
October 29, 200817 yr I don't think many people believe that Al Qaeda would prefer McCain in the White House. However, it is easy for me to believe that Iranian officials are already looking forward to seeing a Carter II presidency.:thumb: Would be a pretty good move for Bin Laden/Al Qaeda to endorse McCain. He knows that any American would be against Al Qaeda and thinks that they would then vote for Obama if they believed it. (sad thing is some would) Then he would have a friend in the White House (Obama) and would make his job/agenda much easier.
October 29, 200817 yr Then he would have a friend in the White House (Obama) and would make his job/agenda much easier. That's more than a stretch IMO. I think Obama would be a terrible choice, but the man is not going to try to buddy up with OBL.
October 29, 200817 yr And what optional, not particularly well thought out, hasty governmental (foreign) policy action was pursued that has caused such high murder rates that I should be concerned with correcting?Come on, Habib, that's a simple answer. Letting guys like Obama run cities, you know, those goofy far left liberals that do their best to tie the hands of officials and punish everyone and everything but the criminals. Seriously, it's a valid point. You guys like to complain about the number of deaths from the war, yet you ignore the constant daily violence in our own country.

Whether they're military deaths in Iraq, or an innocent women in Harlem, aren't they of the same value? Yes. How is that a justification to pursue superfluous, offensive military action?

You think you can find one other post outside of this thread indicating that I ignore the deaths of anyone, including anything from the inner-city violence to disease and famine in Africa? One post making my argument against the Iraq invasion based on death totals? Good luck.
October 29, 200817 yr Yes. How is that a justification to pursue superfluous, offensive military action? So, are suggesting we should have pulled out?
October 29, 200817 yr Yes. How is that a justification to pursue superfluous, offensive military action? I'm not saying it's a justification, but shouldn't both situations be treated equally? The way many would have you believe, the deaths of the soldiers in Iraq are more important than those that are happening in our own cities.
