Todays game proved one thing to everyone. UK's offense stinks!

 

I vote "CoachBuckett" for U.K. offensive coordinator! :thumb:

I watched the whole game because i didn't want to get critized by Rich Brooks for leaving early.

Special Teams for the Cats was horrible in the this game. When your on the road against a good team like Florida, you can't dig a hole and expect to dig yourself out of it! U.K. has many key players out with injuries. Depth on this team is a big problem.

Watching Hartline play football hurts my eyes and my pride. Everytime he is in the pocket I want to jump through the tv and give him a lesson on the game of football, and I am not that good at it. This was the most embarassing game I have ever witnessed in any sport.

I was hoping the days of getting absolutely slaughtered like this was over.

Guess not.

Force UF to punt on first series and then to just absolutely gift wrap two TD's to get yourself in a hole like that against a team like UF is not good.

 

The defense was not real strong either but the offense left them in bad positions.

 

Offensively, they need someone who can make plays. You can get away with Hartline if you have Lyons and Locke, but without your two best playmakers and guys who can turn a short play into a scoring play you need someone at the controls that can make plays.

Hartline can't do that. He manages the game fairly well, but will not make plays consistently enough.

UK runs the ball better with Cobb at QB because it slows the LB down.

Special teams were flat awful. I haven't seen Brooks verbally rip a coach like he did Ortmeyer since Mike Archer roamed the sidelines.

 

All is not lost, UK can still salvage a winning season and make a bowl.

They could really use a bye week.

They are banged up.

They have MSU who has been offensively challenged. Georgia...well...Vandy has come upon some hard times...and who knows if UT will already have turned their gear by the time the last game rolls around.

Makes me sick to watch UK's special teams turn into the special teams of St. Marys School for Blind Girls.

My thoughts exactly.

I think after the 2 blocked punts and a 14-0 score, they kind of gave up, knowing that they have many injuries and Florida having an off week and being healthy.

 

I am not giving up on this team because it is a rebuilding year and they can still win games.

 

Let's face it no matter what it is going to be bery hard to field a team at UK that is capable of competing with Florida year in and year out.

 

Just my opinions.

I hate seeing them lose like this but it isn't the end of the world. Remeber that it was only 2 short years ago that UK was blasted by LSU 49-0. They went on to beat Clemson in a bowl that year. I truly believe that Hartline needs to be replaced. He just isn't getting it done. They either need to start Cobb or at least give Fidler a shot. He may not do any better then Hartline but could he really do worse.

Was the special teams coach at UK when Brooks first started? Because it seems once Brooks gets rid of those guys, that is when they start to do better. Once he got rid of offensive coordinator a few years ago and let Joker take over they started doing better offensively till this year. Then when we got the new defensive coordinator things started doing better. So now just need the new special teams coach.

It was and is Steve Ortmayer.

 

Coach Ortmayer has two Super Bowl rings in 1981 and 1984 as a coach of the LA Raiders. He has 25 years of NFL General Manager and coaching experience. He has coached at Colorado and Georgia Tech.

 

Coach Ort knows what he is doing.

 

I have been told that the first blocked punt was on in illegal interior line move involving holding players attempting to block. The second was on a blown assignment.

 

Kentucky has had some issues with their special teams play this year, but Coach Ortmayer has the experience to help them get it right.

58 point conference losses shouldn't happen to a program that has supposedly turned the corner, I don't care who they are playing. How can a team that has made such gains in recruiting be absolutely void of playmakers? I know Lyons and Locke are hurt but Lyons isn't a deep threat when healthy. They have no deep threats at receiver. How is this possible in a pro set offense that has sent quarterbacks to the NFL year after year? I think the loss shows that UK's season has been smoke and mirrors up to this point. Their offense was horrible against Louisville and needed two defensive scores to win. They needed a goal-line tackle to keep from losing to MTSU when their offense went AWOL again. This team could very well be 3-5 if Arkansas and MTSU would have taken care of business.

 

It's also interesting how conservative Joker Phillips has become in the play-calling since being named the next UK coach. It's almost like he's become too comfortable because his future isn't on the line.
