Thanks, TB&G. I'm glad at least one person actually bothered to read what I posted.

I read it, just don't agree with it AND I still believe that the line I pointed out is an attempt to paint anyone who doesn't agree with The Messiah as a racist. If not what was the purpose for bringing it up?

Interesting, just browsing that list of folks who endorse McCain and I see a lot of what looks like politically appointed ambassadors. That is, folks who basically paid their way to an ambassadorship, rather than the career appointees who are there because they know what they're doing.

Fair enough. If it bothers you more that McCain associated/associates with wealthy people who paid their way to ambassadorships than it does that Obama associated/associated with former terrorists, ministers spewing messages of racial hatred, shady (and I'm being nice in calling Rezko shady) Chicago business people and politicians, and organizations like ACORN, then that's where your beliefs and values may lie. I kind of look at the two groups of associations differently than you do, but to each their own.

I'm particularly disappointed with McCain and Palin's decisions to NOT squelch those types of statements. They can't control what the audience says but they can react in such a way to show that those types of statements will not be promoted by their campaign...by NOT doing this, to me they are saying that they want people to secretly feel this way.

So no one else besides myself and Habib are bothered by Palin/McCain NOT condemning call outs of "terrorist!" and "kill him!" at their rallies? Why is that?

I think it is pretty clear what he is saying, and it isn't calling anyone who disagrees with Obama a racist. Afterall, Frum is a conservative who is supporting McCain.

John Weaver, McCain’s former top strategist, said top Republicans have a responsibility to temper this behavior.

“People need to understand, for moral reasons and the protection of our civil society, the differences with Sen. Obama are ideological, based on clear differences on policy and a lack of experience compared to Sen. McCain,” Weaver said. “And from a purely practical political vantage point, please find me a swing voter, an undecided independent, or a torn female voter that finds an angry mob mentality attractive.”

“Sen. Obama is a classic liberal with an outdated economic agenda. We should take that agenda on in a robust manner. As a party we should not and must not stand by as the small amount of haters in our society question whether he is as American as the rest of us. Shame on them and shame on us if we allow this to take hold.”

Politico

Again, exactly right. Unfortunately, as I've asserted, it appears that it is a top-down policy of stoking the "haters."

Yes. Why, then, do McCain and Palin not say...."now wait a minute...that type of behavior...that type of rhetoric is not only going to turn away some people, it is morally wrong...we will NOT condone commets like that as part of our campaign message."

Instead, they keep letting them say it. This bothers me. "Kill him!" Really????????

How many times has that been shouted at a McCain/Palin rally? Can you say for certain that either of them heard this shouted? What kind of stuff gets shouted at Obama rallies that he doesn't denouce?

I thought my post was evidence it bothers me.

This could be way off, but possibly they are thinking that most "educated" people who follow the issues have made up their mind. Could he possibly be playing into the "bubba" voters who may not ususally vote? Is he in a round about way trying to get these people b/c they're the ones left that could help the most?

You're right, pigman. I'm sorry. You did indicate that it bothers you.

I read it, just completely disagree with it.

Not sure about that one. I can only speak for myself and I can tell you that's never once entered my mind. I have two choices and I believe Obama is the best choice for this Country right now.

You have way more than 2 choices....Just curious, why do you feel Obama is best for the country?

There were three separate incidents that I know of that have been reported. I heard/saw footage of two of them. You're right. I can' say for certain that the candidates heard the comments, though at the times they were yelled, the crowd was fairly quiet and they were easy to hear on camera. But, maybe they didn't hear them.

However, you can't tell me that the McCain campaign has not heard about them through news media. Where is the statement that says "Sen. McCain does not condone behavior at his rallies that indicates or implies that Sen. Obama is a terrorist and he will NOT tolerate any language that promotes violence against Sen. Obama."

I do know that McCain very aggressively called out Willie Cunningham for his derogatory use of Obama's middle name. Which is one more time that I can recall Obama calling out any Democrat for making an issue about McCain's age, Keating 5, Third Bush term, etc. Oh wait a minute. Obama is actually using those bogus issues in his ads. No wonder he hasn't called any one out on those matters.

:thumb: And yet we haven't heard posters on here cry fear-mongering about that....
