Ok, so three times now I've asked you the same question. Three times you've not given a good reason why you call him by his middle name. I think that speaks for itself.

Can I respond for you? Thanks.

Obama is called by his middle name to strike fear in the minds of the uneducated. It, to me, is a slur. Yes, it is his middle name but it is only used in a derogatory sense when envoked by the name of McCain supporters. Do you think there is a reason McCain and Palin themselves haven't gone as far as to say it? Of course there is. It is a lowhanded tactic that has no place in this race.

Because that's his middle isn't good enough for you? Just to be clear for you, I never called him by his middle name until all of the small minded whiners in the media started crying foul, since then, I feel obligated to. If the first reason I gave, it's his middle name, and this reason isn't good enough for you you'll have to ask someone else.

I think the small minded people are the uneducated ones to be quite honest.

Perhaps it's a slur to you because you want it to be. PC run amok is the reason McCain and Palin won't use it, they'd be crucified by the whiny media if they did so.

Now, tell me why Obama used it at first, then stopped.

I do know that McCain very aggressively called out Willie Cunningham for his derogatory use of Obama's middle name. Which is one more time that I can recall Obama calling out any Democrat for making an issue about McCain's age, Keating 5, Third Bush term, etc. Oh wait a minute. Obama is actually using those bogus issues in his ads. No wonder he hasn't called any one out on those matters.

There is a difference between negative campaigning and what is going on here. As much as I would like to see a campaign on issues and that respects the American people enough to not insult their intelligence with this inconsequential stuff, I doubt I'll live to see. So, while a bane, Ayers, Wright, Keating 5, Bush, etc. are fair game. But when we descend to the level of thinly veiled hints or tacit acceptance that one of the candidates isn't an American, or might be a closet Muslim terrorist we begin heading down a path we won't be able to turn back from.

Again, small minded people think because his middle name is Hussein he might be a closet Muslim terrorist and on the other side only small minded people complain about it and call it fear mongering. These kind of people won't vote for him in the first place, his skin color is likely enough for idiots like those you and UKPat describe. I'm telling you, the small minded people that constantly cry racism for this and every other little thing when Obama is questioned are equally as bad.

About time...

But then something weird happens: He acknowledges the "energy" people have been showing at rallies, and how glad he is that people are excited. But, he says, "I respect Sen. Obama and his accomplishments." People booed at the mention of his name. McCain, visibly angry, stopped them: "I want EVERYONE to be respectful, and lets make sure we are."

The very next questioner tried to push back on this request, noting that he needed to "tell the American the TRUTH about Barack Obama" -- a not very subtle way, I think, to ask John McCain to NOT tell the truth about Barack Obama. McCain told her there's a "difference between record and rhetoric, and I plan to talk about his record, respectfully... I don't mean that has to reduce your ferocity, I just mean it has to be respectful."

And then later, again, someone dangled a great big piece of low-hanging fruit in front of McCain: "I'm scared to bring up my child in a world where Barack Obama is president."

McCain replies, "Well, I don't want him to be president, either. I wouldn't be running if I did. But," and he pauses for emphasis, "you don't have to be scared to have him be President of the United States." A round of boos.

And he snaps back: "Well, obviously I think I'd be better. "

[...]

Indeed, he just snatched the microphone out the hands of a woman who began her question with, "I'm scared of Barack Obama... he's an Arab terrorist..."

"No, no ma'am," he interrupted. "He's a decent family man with whom I happen to have some disagreements."

Time

I guess the fervor has finally bubbled over the top and McCain is attempting to put the lid back on. But, the real problem is the thinly veiled rhetoric that has brought the accusation that Obama an "Arab terrorist" to the mainstream.

Neither McCain nor Palin would dare mention Obama's middle name, Hussein, but they can play up Obama's past associations and let others connect the dots. Terrorist. Muslim. Dangerous. Other.

It is legitimate to question character and dubious associations -- and William Ayers is certifiably dubious. The truth is, Obama should have avoided Ayers, and his denouncement of Wright was tardy. But this is a dangerous game.

The McCain campaign knows that Obama isn't a Muslim or a terrorist, but they're willing to help a certain kind of voter think he is. Just the way certain South Carolinians in 2000 were allowed to think that McCain's adopted daughter from Bangladesh was his illegitimate black child.

But words can have more serious consequences than lost votes and we've already had a glimpse of the Palin effect.

The Post's Dana Milbank reported that media representatives in Clearwater were greeted with taunts, thunder sticks and profanity. One Palin supporter shouted an epithet at an African-American soundman and said, "Sit down, boy."

McCain may want to call off his pit bull before this war escalates.

And she's exactly right. I've been hinting at this for a few days while she's just hit this one on the screws.

Wow, that article by the Washington Post. Might as well be called the Obama Post.

It was written by a conservative author.

No surprise that it "leaked" through the Washington Post there then. Fact is the Washington Post is a major nationwide read newpaper. But the Washington D.C. area is the most liberal area in the U.S. Maybe they were just trying to sell to there base a little.

If that article would have supported McCain/Palin you would have found it on page 9C.

I find it funny that Obama supporters are talking about McCain playing to the uneducated voter at the same time that ACORN is being investigated by 11 states for voter fraud. Some of their practices include bribing "uneducated" Ohio voters on how to vote 72 times for money and cigarettes. The same group that signed up the Dallas Cowboys roster in Vegas (educated). The same group that registered 4,000 dead people in a different state. What is their education level? The same group that Obama has donated well over $800,000 to help get out the vote. I ask, are they trying to get the "educated" vote? I'd like your answer.

That's a pretty sticky subject that I'd prefer not to get into, but I will say you have a decent point.

The count is now up to 13 states. An estimated 25% of the registration forms in Pennsylvania submitted by ACORN are bogus.

ACORN is doing whatever is necessary to ensure the election of B. Hussein Obama.

(I like to use Obama's middle name because I believe that objections to use of somebody's full legal name is a silly non-issue. When and if Obama becomes the Dictator for Life of the United States or legally changes his name, then I will pledge not to use his middle name publicly.)

I think it's more than a decent point. It's laughable for O supporters to cry out against trying to get the uneducted vote. O lives on the uneducated vote. Homeless people are bussed to vote. Where do they get their info? Pot, meet kettle.

The difference here is that calling Obama "Hussein" isn't going after the uneducated vote, its misleading the uneducated into thinking Obama is a terrorist.

Well another difference is the people saying this aren't being paid $800,000 to say what they are saying.

Is paying a guy in Cleveland a few bucks and giving him some cigs to sign up to vote 72 times misleading? Not sure. Is regestering 4,000 dead people misleading? Maybe not, b/c you can't lead the dead. If you're happy w/ a store bought illeagally voted on election in this great country that's on you.

The story is no where to being as clear cut as you may like. ACORN flags all potentially fraudulent forms and turns them all in because they're legally required to do so. They're the ones that brought the bad forms to light in the first place. Things are being handled.

If it was as easy as you would like, wouldn't someone take measures to shut them down if all they were doing was bribing new voters?

You know what? I think I'm done with this forum. Say what you like about me, but I'm done. Too tiring for me. May the best man win.
