The only part of the pizza I like is the main part the goodies. There is a restraunt in Phelps that has this pizza bread that is out of this world, they call it crazy bread. The place is called Hornets. Go figure.

I love a bunch of fresh cheese and any type of meat or veggie on top of that cheese.

This is pretty hard, they all really work together, but I think the toppings really tie the pizza together.

I would agree. I think the sauce and crust are what makes a pizza good. But it's the toppings that seperate a good pizza from a great pizza. For instance Wick's vs. Impellizzeri's (thanks Rockmom)

, both have great crusts and sauces, but Impellizzeri's toppings are out of this world. The quality of them is what seperates it from the other pizza places in Louisville that I've tried.

Cheese then sauce to me. The crust is important to me because I like bread and so like thick crust, but it could have the best crust in the world and if the cheese and the sauce are off, it's BLEH.

The whole Pizza is very good period.

Cheese, by far. Go to Italy and you will learn that the Americans have nearly ruined pizza with too much sauce.

Well, I just got back from Friday Night Pizza Research. Yep, still the crust for me. Not thin, not deep dish. Crispy on the bottom and the edges, tender but not mushy in the middle. The sauce is definitely the 2nd most important component, if not equal to the crust. No sweet sauce. It must be tomato-ey, preferably noticably with the appearance of crushed tomatoes, seasoned with garlic, basil and oregano. The toppings are incidental, and a good quality cheese, but not so much that it smothers the toppings. Yep...I had yet another perfect pizza at Impellizzeri's!

End all of this discussion. Chicago style pizza in the town it originated in is unbelievable. You can only eat 1 piece maybe 2.
